....for Durant? Switch 2009 1st Rounders? Start Rudy?

I know it's a WAY out there proposal, but I'm becoming increasingly concerned about Roy's health.

Sell high?

Why? I think there's a reason why you only hear about these "rumors" about Roy's health in chatrooms and not anywhere else.

Durant and this year's OKC first round pick? Hmmmm ... I'll admit it's almost tempting, but I'd pass and that's mostly because I have a major man-crush on Roy and zero objectivity when it comes to him.

I wouldn't do it if I were the Blazers. From what I've seen, the 2009 class doesn't seem to have a lot of talent and Roy > Durant enough to make up for the 1st round pick.

Why would OKC give up their first rounder, which has a good chance of being a guy like Griffin or Thabeet, who could really help their team?

Durant + Thabeet > Brandon Roy

Next year, we might be saying Durant > Brandon Roy, and Durant + Thabeet >>> Brandon Roy

If Rubio were expected to be in the draft, and the pick were unprotected, I'd do it without question.

I don't like any of the expected players at the top of the 2009 draft, so no.

The 2009 draft really doesn't intrigue me. The best player, Griffin, would have been a mid lotto pick imo in the 2008 draft. That says a lot about the other players......

And until the Thunder start winning, Durant won't be considered better than guys like Carter, let alone Roy.

You keep thinking Thabeet is gonna be a legit nba player, get back to me in 10 years when he still sucks

seriously underestimates durant's value. i'd bet most NBA GMs building a team for the future would take durant over roy straight up.

Roy's biggest asset is his ability to continually drive to the basket with success. True it the reason he takes a pounding, but none the less it separates him from most players who are sub par at this skill. Because of this he can take a game over. (Durant right now works mostly outside.) You need a Wade or Kobe or James. Roy is at the very next level with Paul and DWill. So no i don't trade him. Plus he has intagibles that Durant has not yet shown.

Yeah, I guess I might do it- assuming OK ends up with the worst record. Durant and a top 4 pick (rubio?) would be tempting.

No real stars this year.

Roy is a bonafide superstar.

Durant is a star. 1st overall pick is not all that great this year, especially when it just makes our team younger.

Jesus people. This is not a debate. This is not a question.

Roy has played like a top 5 player in the league. Durant + 1st pick is not > Roy.

Roy is a top 10 player, close to top 6-7 in my eyes, and an awesome leader on this team. Kevin Durant will not be that guy. Ever.

Again, the ONLY way I even proposed this scenario is because I have some serious concerns surrounding Roy's health. If Brandon were healthy as an ox? No way. Jose'.

Do you guys that say no to this proposal think Brandon won't increasingly be subject to injury?

I would trade Roy without hesitation, but not for Durant.

I also wouldn't consider trading Roy for Durant as selling high.

I wouldn't either.........without their pick.

durant is intelligent and learning very quickly, respected by his teammates, has shown indication that he does have roy's killer instinct, and he just turned 20 & is nowhere near reaching his potential and yet he's already one of the 2-3 best offensive SF in the game. there's no reason to think he isn't capable of becoming the same type of "awesome leader" roy is. odds are he will by the time he's roy's age.

i would not want to see roy go because he's already firmly established as a leader here, but at the same time if i were the thunder i would not trade durant for roy straight up either. i'd bet durant will be the more valuable player in 3 years or less.

I saw the pick, and this is why I still wouldn't

In few drafts are there real difference makers. Lebron, Robinson, Ewing, Hakeem, Oden hopefully, but in this draft there really isn't a huge difference maker at the top of the fraft.

Brandon Roy however IS a difference maker. I also don't think Chucker Durant is a difference maker either .

I believe you failed to consider my ongoing points regarding Roy's health. It's cool, though. Really, it's all a moot as it'll never happen. :)

durant is not a chucker, at least not any more than he is supposed to be. that's an undeserved rap left over from his rookie season when he was thrown to the wolves without much direction playing under a terrible coaching system. he's currently shooting .464, .444 3P, with a .559 TS% (pretty good numbers for a 20-year-old) on a terrible team. if anything he should be shooting more, not less.

I think I would consider a trade for Chris Paul. Roy provides much in the way of stability and leadership to this young team. However, I believe Paul just might get more out of LA and Oden than Roy will. Of course much depends on who we get for SG to replace Roy, but that is easier than acquiring a playmaker.
