Mountain biker Kelly McGarry's daring 72-foot canyon backflip captured on helmet camera goes viral on YouTube
Backflip over 72 foot canyon - first person
Helmet camera footage captured a hair-raising rider's eye view as mountain biker Kelly McGarry pulled a backflip over a 72 foot wide canyon gap.
The treacherous ride down a near vertical sandstone ridge won the 31-year-old New Zealander second place at this year's Red Bull Rampage competition, held near Virgin, Utah.
The incredible footage was captured using a GoPro video camera attached to the rider's helmet.
In the video, McGarry is seen performing a couple of smaller backflips, before launching into an incredible somersault across the gaping chasm.
American rider Kyle Strait won the competition, with a run that saw him make a 65 foot drop with his hands behind his back.
