My last tour in Germany found me assigned to a NATO Assault Helicopter Company that airlifted soldiers of the various European United Nations Forces. We had one assignment to go up to Northern Germany and work with a British Infantry unit. When commenting about how good that gig would be this young man said Yo Sarge, have you been around those people what are they like. I said for the most part pretty OK. He then asked me if they spoke English, I almost fell out. I then explained to the young man that the United Kingdom consisted of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England and for sure they spoke English.
