Which one of these two, fucked up this transition/relationship that Miller doesnt have with the rest of the team.

Check out this quote

Miller on this season: 'We're almost halfway through the season. And I still don't know what's going on.'

http://twitter.com/blazerbanter

On his role with the team:

With all the injuries, you've just got to find your way into the lineup. Last night, it was really like they didn't have a choice but to play me. So there were shots. If everybody was there, I probably would've been on the bench. So, that's how it goes sometimes; opportunities. We got the win, and I stepped in, and that's all that matters.

On whether he thinks he will be a Blazer next season:

I don't know. It's how the coaches and the management sees it. I just don't think I've been given the opportunity as a veteran to actually show what I can do to help this team; there never was a chance coming in here to put my stamp on the team as a veteran leader. If you look at it, if you're not given the opportunity, you've got to find it; you've got to find ways to adjust. Whether the management sees me playing a bigger role next year or moving me. That's their decision. But, if they was to move, it wasn't really an opportunity for the start. ... I can't get my head down about it; I'll be a professional about everything. It's just coming into the whole situation, I wasn't given that chance that a veteran should be given; a fair chance. But that's part of the business. I'll be a professional about it.

On still putting up solid numbers:

Yeah, for the amount of time that I'm in there. I prove when I'm on the court, the +/- (is) good, and all that type of stuff. The only thing I can really look at is the record being in the starting lineup.

On whether he pays attention to that:

Yeah, I mean, I'm not a statistics person. But when you're being put in this type of situation, you've got to try to figure out positives to motivate yourself to go out there and get the job done. And that's what I look at the most. I'm a fourth-quarter player and I haven't been in there in the fourth quarter. I'm just looking at trying to get positives out of everything. Positives that guys are getting the opportunity to step in and do things. And young guys. Everybody's not here. I mean, you've got over half the team hurt, which is unheard of. Guys are getting the opportunity to step in. So, if I have to take a step back — I never wanted to come in here and say, 'This is my team.' I just wanted to provide some leadership and run the team.

that could be taken many ways. It might even have to do with all the injuries, he does not know what is going on because every day the Blazers seem to lose another player. It could also be a communication issue. Or that he does not feel he is being used correctly. Without more, I don't think we have any chance of correctly interpreting this.

Previous tweet from Brian

Another revealing interview with #Blazers' Andre Miller today.

I guess we will wait and see the context, but i think its more about the relationship and his comfort and not injuries

You did. STFU

With all the stuff that's happened to this team this year I don't think anyone know what's going on. Except KP of course :devilwink:

I dont think anyone can blame miller for being pissed. roy never embraced him. nate benched him for steve blake and he hadn't played at all in the 4th qtr recently until blake got hurt. I think i would be mad too.

I mean even though he cant hit a jumper to save his life.... hes still our best PG and deserves to start. Infact J Quick says people around the league say Miller plays his best ball starting in January. Last night he played well. Overall I doubt Miller is a Blazer this time next year BUT if we do trade him... we better find a PG cause its not blake or bayless.

I read the quotes and I read the article and I still do not see where you come up with the lack of "relationship" with the rest of the team part.

...Miller should have been the starting PG from the get go, anyone that thought otherwise is a fool [yes, that includes all of you, the players, and the staff that tried to justify Miller coming off the bench]

Well that was not actually the "quote" my man. Here is the FULL question and FULL quote:

On how this season has gone for him:

I'll look back at the end of the season. This is all new for me. So, we're almost halfway through the season. And I still don't know what's going on. I came here to win, that's all that really matters. All the injuries and the minutes and you never know what (would) have happened if everybody was here. The coaches would've had a tough job figuring out who's going to play and trying to make everybody happy.

It's called context, kinda like if Oregon did not have a football team, the Beavers would be the big show.

Cool, your funny

Why didn't you choose this sentence from the whole quote?

"I came here to win, that's all that really matters."

Then you could have called your thread: Miller just wants to win, he does not care about his minutes. :drumroll:

All I read in that article was somebody who's not sure why he was brought here and is still trying to figure out where he fits. Am I missing the massive controversy?

Because Brian Smith Tweeted that line before he ever posted the whole article. Thats why

regardless, I don't see these relayed quotes as surprising or controversial. Players generally want to play and feel they deserve it... especially players who've started the previous 10 seasons. His responses aren't outlandish, they're reasoned. I'd be more concerned if he didn't question how he is being used.

This is on Nate. Starting Blake over him was a joke, and Miller has every right to be upset.

He certainly doesn't seem happy.

agreed... should he be happy about his role thus far? Is it really a problem that he's not? Is he staying focused and producing?

I wouldn't be either. I'm just impressed that Brian Smith has been able to get such good interviews out of him, with no PC or canned answers.

Don't be too impressed; Andre's not one to sugar coat anything. A lot of these answers are similar to what he said in November in various interviews with Quik and the Oregonian crew.

He is right about everything he is saying. He hasn't been given the opportunity to be a leader or a factor in the end of games. Blake isn't anywhere near as good as Miller and Andre see's that. I don't blame him for being frustrated that our coaches aren't getting the most out of the team while at the same time making him look like he isn't as good as he truly is. Look at his career. You don't get praise from top coaches around the league and respect from elite PGs without being consistently productive over your entire career.

I'm also right. This shouldn't have been an issue.

Yeah, sure, Miller has every right to be upset.

OTOH, Philly obviously didn't need/want him anymore. I wonder what other situation would have made him happy? I doubt he would have received the $$/terms with any other team that got with Portland.

Andre Miller turned out to be almost exactly what KP/Nate wanted. He's been a solid, experienced BACKUP PG who could score and strengthen our bench by tutoring them.

Unfortunately he's provided no leadership nor has he found a consistent way to help the team. I would assume he can only blame his own withdrawn personality for any mis-communication IF it were the first PG to say that about Nate. But they've all said it. Even Brandon.

If Andre wants to play more he needs to play better. Simple as that.

I love how Miller is being viewed as a saint by those that feel that Brandon is selfish. It just goes to show that some of you just want something to bitch about.
