West Virginia guard Sarah Miles may miss the Mountaineers' season opener because of a right wrist injury.
Coach Mike Carey says the reigning Big East defensive player of the year had surgery Monday and will be out 4-6 weeks.
The 5-foot-7 senior from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 10.1 points last season and led the conference in assists (5.9) and steals (2.8).
