He was the father of modern computing whose work on the Enigma code at Bletchley Park is said to have shortened the Second World War.

But he was also gay and in those less enlightened times was chemically castrated by an ungrateful nation after being convicted of “gross indecency” with a man in 1952.

Now, nearly 60 years after his suicide from cyanide poisoning at the age of 41, Alan Turing has been officially pardoned by the Queen under the little-known Royal Prerogative of Mercy.

Phenomenally influential person and too little too late IMO.

Also, I think all people prosecuted under these charges should be exonerated.

Brits have always been the least tolerant barbarians of the western world.

That's why America exists. To be a better, freer, more tolerant society than Britain.

Alan Turing and John von Neumann are the foundation of the modern computer science. Just imagine what the world would look like if he had more years to contribute to the fields of Mathematics and computer science...

I thought this would never happen!

Empty and worthless pr stunt exploiting a hero who was insidiously tortured to death by the very people he saved.

It is ashame he couldn't unlock the code to survival.
