14. Andre Miller(notes), Portland Trail Blazers (last year: 13th)

You kind of hate ranking a guy who dropped 52 in a game last season around the middle of the pack at his position, but if you watched that game, you'd know ... yeah, it was Dallas. Perhaps I've underrated Dre, worried about the drop-off that is bound to come at some point. Perhaps I'm wondering if he'll float through this season, like he did (in a contract year, no less) in 2008-09. Perhaps he could also be the guy who puts Greg Oden(notes) on the All-Star team in 2011. Everyone root for the third "perhaps." Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

Why would he drop-off? Its not like his style of play has ever been dependent on his athleticism and he never gets hurt.

I'm trying to reconcile what it means that I'd take every PG from 11-21 over Andre (including Kidd), and think that #20 (Calderon) is basically a wash?

it's just an opinion piece, and everyone is entitled to theirs

mine is that Curry is ranked way too low... he's 5-10 easy. Being placed in the middle of the starting pack, Andre seems ranked pretty fairly. I'd "take" several of the younger guys over Andre in the big picture, but I wouldn't rank them above him for this year. I especially agree with the point about potentially being a great compliment to Oden

What do you have to reconcile? That clearly means you think Miller is a bottom-third starting point guard and you disagree with the article.

I don't agree with your evaluation of Miller in relation to the other point guards, but I'm not sure what your internal struggle is.

Even at Millers advanced age and his difficulty defending the quicker point guards in the league I think the ranking is just about right.

I keep remembering back to last year when he abused Russell Westbrook (who I really like) on more than one occasion with his strength and craftiness and you realize that there just aren't a lot of guys around the league who can top his ability to affect the game from his position.

EDIT: BrianFromWA: The notion that Andre Miller versus Calderon is a push hurts my brain
