Timberwolves fans have been eating his quotes up about him being all healthy now

They'll learn soon enough this is just classic BRoy talk

I had no idea stem-cell's could regenerate entirely new limbs.

Interesting.

As a Blazer fan, you can't help wonder if this wasn't some gigantic elaborate rouse by Roy and his people to get out of Portland. Yes, his knees were shot, but were they THAT shot? If he plays at Minny 30+ mins a night and averages 15-20/5/5 night in and night out, how pissed off will you be? I know that I will be absolutely fucking furious.

Why exactly would he want to get out of Portland. He owned this town. I'm sure Roy had this elaborate scheme to get out of Portland so he can go to Minnesota of all places.

Can you make me one of those cool tin foil hats?

Nate-ball. Batum too. Olshey even alluded to it that they had gotten rid of things that Batum didn't want in Portland.

Roy loved Nate-ball

Look, Roy is going to break down mid-season seeing as how he has no meniscus in either knee. It's inevitable, sadly.

Exactly. Roy was sick of the bullshit, knew he was never going to win here and satisfy the fans/media with knees that he would have to take off 1 every 3 games on, so he decided to ditch. On one hand, don't blame him, but on the other, fuck him. If he plays like Roy of Old in Minny, even every other game, the level of betrayal will be off the charts.

Boo fuckin hoo to Batum. He doesn't have enough clout in this league to be worried about who teams are putting around him.

So Roy said his knees were shot, cried publicly about and shut it down just so he could play elsewhere? I'm not buying it whatsoever. If he wanted out he could have demanded a trade. Instead he went to phony Dr's that said if he kept playing he'd be in a wheelchair by 40?

Lets get real here.

These Minny trolls will soon see Roy in his true colors.

:bwpopcorn:

Every legitimate doctor has said with his condition he should retire. You don't overcome having no meniscus in either knee.

move on. we got his contract off our books. big fucking deal if he gets MVP in Minnesota.

With his contract and injury history, a trade is pretty unrealistic. No one was going to take on that contract.

But, yeah if you remember he seemed UPSET that the Blazers were going to consider amnestying him before the doctor's opinion.

Doesn't Blair have the same problem, yet not had injury problems in the NBA?

Blair's as tall as he is wide. Totally different circumstance.

Doesn't Blair have the same problem, yet not had injury problems in the NBA?

Different injuries. I'm sure Blair's lack of ACL's killed his ability to jump (at least compared to other NBA players), but he has adjusted his game to play within his limitations. With Roy, he literally has bones grinding together every time he plants, runs, walks or any other movement. Unless this new procedure either magically grew some sort of cartilage or permanently numbed his knees from pain, he's going to have to deal with excruciating pain every time he plays.

As has been said, Blair's totally different.
In high school, Blair tore both of his ACLs and had them surgically repaired. Blair’s scar tissue essentially got re-absorbed by his body and the result left Blair with essentially no ACLs.

Although he’s suffered no adverse effects ever since, Blair’s is an unprecedented injury and one that scared off a slew of NBA executives. Though Blair literally has no ACL to tear, some team physicians feel that Blair could eventually develop a nagging issue that could wear him down a few years down the road.

There's no pain to Blair, no swelling, no limiting of motion. If anything, he has a reduced capability of resisting injury, but it's manageable as long as he keeps his legs strong.
Dr. Wedro said:
The ACL’s job is to be one of the knee stabilizers in the anterior-posterior direction, that is preventing the tibia or shin bone from sliding frontwards or backwards in relation to the femur or thigh bone. This is especially important in quick stops and starts. If there is no ACL, then the quadricpes and hamstring muscles need to take over the stabilization role. Good knee stability should be able to be maintained as long as the quads and hams remain strong and in balance.

Roy, however, has no meniscus (meniscii?). Not "no cartilage", which can grow back in microfracture. Not "no ACLs", but "no meniscus in either knee".
Brandon Roy's meniscus won't grow back. No amount of bone-breaking or bleeding will help it grow back. He's stuck like this. Even Danny Manning got to play on cadaver ACLs for the last few years of his career, but no such operation exists for Brandon. And fans of the Blazers, and what could have been a Hall of Fame talent, need to realize that no amount of rest -- in-game, in the offense, for a week, for a season or for a summer -- will put him right. It's over.

Unfortunately B-Roy is headed for knee replacement surgery. I love the guy, but he's thinking with his heart and not his head.

Yeah he's going to have a life ahead of pain. I think he should have stayed retired and tried to get into coaching or broadcasting. Dude's made enough $$. I would have sort of understood if he was going to a contender, but I don't see Minnesota beating Lakers, Clippers, Thunder, or Spurs in a series. If they make the playoffs it is 1st round and out AGAIN for Roy.

There's so much "hibbidy jibbidy" in this I don't even know where to start ...

I like the competitive spirit he has. His mind is stronger than his body. He almost single-handedly saved this franchise and I wish him nothing but the best (except against us). When he comes back to Portland, he should get a standing ovation.
