To me this is a waste of at bats unless they are trading either ellisbury...please say thats it or gardy..why clog up the dh spot with guy past his prime

^^^Al, I gotta believe that either Gardner or Ellsbury will now definitely be traded. I guess after Beltran signed with Houston, Holliday became their 2nd choice.

Holliday, always have liked that mans game, comes to play, a bit older DH than we may have wanted to see but the man has played on successful St Louis teams so I'm rooting for him to succeed. As for Beltran I'm surprised that he went to the Astros, as I remember he was not the most popular man in Houston when he opted to leave for the Mets. On Ellsbury and Headley I'm hoping that a reasonable deal can get done, gonna be hard they both have marks on them from being touched by 10 foot poles.

The point is he's past his prime. In his prime I really liked what he brought to the game, but...........

...I think Cashman in spite of himself made the right decision not to over-pay and over extend for Encarnacion...he'll be 34 next month...giving him 4-5 years would take him to age 38-39...no way.

Cage, I agree that Holliday overall is past his prime at overall game but all the Yankees need him to do as a DH is come up with some timely hits. Even Beltran was shaky Jake in right field last season.. Better that move for one year than to give as 59 stated a huge deal for an Encarnacion. For one year Cashman did not make the prima move but it may well have been the right one we will see. And like all here I'm waiting to see if Cashman can get rid of Headley, Ellsbury, and Gardner getting at least some returns.
