Yeah, I don't care about the money, but the years, well, that's another story. Fried is a consistent lefty who won't overpower hitters but his command and breaking stuff are solid. (1.16 career WHIP)

Kinda reminds me of Andy Pettitte.

I'll be consistent and say even though the money is crazy, it only matters if it hamstrings your team or if there is a cap. Since there is no cap, and I don't expect the Yanks to stop here, I don't think the money is a concern, price of doing business if you want to sign top FA's. Solid move for a # 2 starter to pair with Cole, 2nd best SP on the market.

Like I wrote, multiple things can be true, losing Soto is a blow regardless of how you guys spin it, but the Yanks will add more and be just fine overall. I expect they'll add a very good bat as well.

It’s a blow depending on what they do. One huge problem was how top heavy the lineup was with Judge and Soto forced to pretty much carry everything. They could end up better off with a more balanced lineup. There’s nobody saying Soto wasn’t solid but this contract vastly overrates him. What does Bobby Witt Jr. eventually get? $60 million?

^^^Yup, the bottom 1/2 of the line up was a black hole offensively. The money saved by not signing Soto, coupled with the money coming off the books will total nearly $100 mil, and that will go a long way for the Yanx to retool.


Soto now claims he has not spoken with any of his former Yankee team mates since the post season ended. ...hmmm, I find that interesting. And the more I hear and learn about him, the happier I am that we did not resign him. Never cared for his hot dogging and incessantly arguing with the Umps.

With the Mets he won't have Judge hitting behind him for protection...and also concerning the Mets, good luck with making Clay f'n Holmes a viable starter.

We'll agree to disagree. His contract does not overrate him at all, not even one drop. As we have said over and over again, that's the reality of doing business in the current baseball universe. If it was such an overrating contract, why did at least 3 and maybe 4 teams offer him over $700M. Answer, because it is not an overrating contract, it is the current reality. Is Fried's contract overrating him, for a guy who misses time on the IL and will be 31 next month. I didn't say that, and I don't think that, it's just the reality of where we are.

We'll also agree to disagree on whether or not losing Soto is a blow, it absolutely 100% is, the guy is one of the best players in the league, that's a blow. As I wrote, I fully expect the Yanks to bring in other good players and be fine overall. Just because the Yanks rebound with other moves doesn't make losing Soto not a blow.

I love you Yankee fans, you live in your entitled bubble, it is funny to me for an organization that didn't make the WS from 2009 until 2024 despite huge resource advantages, and didn't get there until Soto was on the team, and then he leaves and it's no biggie, all good.

Meanwhile, your savior has never done a darn thing in the playoffs, and never made the WS until Soto was his partner. Maybe Soto is the alpha not Judge when you look at clutch hitting and actually winning, you know things that matter. I know crazy thought in Yankee entitlement and fantasy land.

As for Judge "protecting" Soto in the lineup, that is one of the funniest things I have ever read, like ever. Yes, because if you look at Soto's career before he was in a lineup with Judge, he was awful. He actually has a WS ring as a cleanup hitter with the Nats, but Judge, the god and savior, doesn't do S in the playoffs, and never even made the WS without Soto. Let's not let facts get in the way.

Bottom line is Soto is great, we want him, he helped us make the WS. Oh wait, he left. Okay, he is terrible defensively, he is protected by Judge, his contract overrates him. On and on, all funny stuff. I wonder why people don't really like Yankee fans....

What a Yankee fan should be saying is this. Soto is a great player, we gave it our best shot to keep him, but he went elsewhere. Thanks for the great season Soto, and for helping us get to the WS for the first time in 15 years. Losing a great player like Soto is a loss and blow, but now we can use that money elsewhere and add a few players to the team, and hopefully those players we add in more quantity will help us make up for the loss of Soto and get back to the WS and maybe win it this time.

That's reality and the honest approach. See, I'm trying to help....
