I just hope this COVID-2 season does not lay the ground work for this incomprehensible playoff
system! If this be the case, why play 162 games, and just play a 60 game season for the millions
of uninterested baseball fans. I just fear today’s fans have very short memories & can only deal
with a condensed baseball format! Scary thought.

Yes it is.

Cleveland faced some pretty good offenses like the White Sox and Twins so I can't see the streaky Yankees striking fear into their (Clevelands) Staff. Ceveland I felt had a better Staff than the Yankes in '17 but lost. Don't think that will happen this yearr. Sad too say but I have very little confidence in the '20 Yankees.

Yankees will have tough time scoring runs tomorrow, regardless of their rah-rah manager cheering these
frustrating hitters.

Whatever Gerrit Cole wants, he’s going to get (it)......regardless of the manager & GM’s thoughts.
Cole wants Higashioka to catch him & bingo!....he gets his wish. Management’s favorite, Gary Sanchez,
will be watching Game 1 on the pines......and I say, “Gary, well deserved”.

DJ LaMahieu (.366)will become only the 4th Yankee in the team’s long magical history to win the AL batting title.
He joins the fantasy trio of Mickey Mantle .353 BA in 1953, Joe DiMaggio .381 in 1939, & Lou Gehrig .363
in 1934.
Note* It took 67 years since Mantle’s feat for another Yankee to win the batting title.
That’s a long time and LaMahieu, and the kicker here, was obtained in free agency.
Why has it taken this long for Yankee managements to develop contact hitters?

Mel, you are sharp as a whippet. You are correct. In 1998 Sir Bernie won the title with .339 BA.
How could I forget this achievement. He is one of my favorite Yankee players...the consummate
player & teammate.

Don't forget to add Mattingly's .343 1984 Season and Batting Title/Crown; with Winfield right behind him. 41 yrs after Mantle's Batting Title.

His .353 in 1986, was 2nd in the AL, .006 behind Boggs, but 2nd doesn't count.

Mattingly should be in the hall of fame period.

damned, my math is horribly pathetic this morning. 41 yrs, s/b 31 yrs.

I find it interesting, with Koufax having 5 great years and 1 good one, and Mattingly having 4 great yrs and 1 good one offensively, yet his D never waned. Why not the same criteria for Donnie BB.

Tho'- I know a few great years isn't enough for Cooperstown. Uncanny thing to look at Kirby Puckett's lifetime numbers, which are so similar to #23s, guess the accolades of a W.S. ice a cake, that needs none and are a factor for Cooperstown, which shouldn't be!

Noy the bigest Joel Sherman fan in the world and after discussiing who he'd ply in tonights game and the reasons fo doing so made sense. Unfortunetly Boner will play all the big money wiffles, waffles and woffiies making sure that none of the prima donnas get thier feengs hurt.

You hit the nail on the head. BaBoone, I’ve always felt, is over his head in the decision-making department and
to have a team loaded with Prima donnas in most cases will not perform at top capacity...(keep Sanchez in mind).
