Game Thread Yankees vs. Orioles Saturday 8/25/18, 7:05 pm

ESPN shows Happ by day, Sonny by night. Doesn't really matter Sonny is capable of poor performance at any time.

Yankees should just pitch Gray for 3 or 6 batters and then bring on the scrappers.....it’s worth a try, besides
I cannot watch this guy try to pitch longer!

I say, good or bad outing and pitch count be damned, make him through 7 innings. Stupid to take him out if he’s given up 6 runs in 2 and burn the BP on a game that’s out of reach already. Just make him throw 7 innings and hope for the best, whether the best is Sonny throws a good game or Sonny’s arm falls off.

Gardner -LF
Stanton -DH
Hicks -CF
Andujar -3B
Walker -RF
Torres -SS
Bird -1B
Romine -C
Torreyes -2B

I just noticed they posted the lineup a few minutes ago. I would rather have Robinson (RF) and Voit (1B) play again since they played well in the first game.

However, a case could be made for Bird (1B) with a BA 0.429 against Cashner.

I also like adding Torreyes to the lineup, but I would rather have him at SS and move Torres back to 2B.

...have not looked it up but I gotta believe that Bird's good numbers vs Cashner are not very recent...Bird has not been good for quite awhile.

Sure would have been nice if Stanton had put one over the fence. With Gray out there the team needs a good lead.

I’m just going to call this dude “Pickles”.....forget the horror of ‘Sonny Gray’!

Full credit to Gray today, he managed to to his job and keep his team in the game. hope the bull pen can duplicate Grays start!.

...Yanx have made up a few games on the Sox lately...love to see the Sox fold and cough up the division.

Romine with a bomb. If being a Yankee Catcher were a rodeo Romine would be best all around cowboy at that position. Higgy is a pretty good sub. Sanchez never showed this year and whaen post season arrives and finds the Yankees there the best all around is what is needed.

Betances finishes what Kahnle can't, Yankees take a double dipper, now go for the sweep tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Romine said this was “Pickles” best pitching outing of the year.....yes, we know it was against Baltimore who had
previously whipped our arses 6 times already. Even so, it was an eye opener. He pitched with confidence and had
command. Now, can he he do it against the A’s, the Mariners, the Indians and so on? Time will tell.

• With their 82nd victory, the Yankees have clinched their 26th straight winning season, extending the second-longest streak in Major League history. The record is 39, achieved by the 1926-64 Yankees. In the four major American pro sports (MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL), only the NHL's Montreal Canadiens (32, 1952-83) and Boston Bruins (29, 1968-96) have exceeded the Yankees' current accomplishment.

• Gray has made four starts with the Yankees at Camden Yards, winning each outing while compiling a 0.38 ERA in 24 innings. He has also won both of his starts on Players' Weekend, having bested the Mariners last Aug. 26 at Yankee Stadium.
