RHP - Adam Warren, (1-1 5.40 ERA)

VS.

RHP - Nathan Karns, (1-1 5.32 ERA)

Yankee notes: RHP Masahiro Tanaka is being pushed back a day (Wednesday) & the team will have RHP Chase Whitley get his first start on Tuesday.

As always I like to see the Yankees stomp the Tampa Team into a mud hole, Warren I got my doubts. Whitley, Jesus Christ, offense better be way up.

Yep, I have no problem with giving Tanaka an extra day here or there but I just don't like Whitley's stuff....very mediocre and hittable. Sacrificial lamb?
I would prefer the Yanks give some other kid starter from the farm with better "stuff" the chance.
Why not....give the kid a taste and he could seize the moment and make a statement......
.....ah, let's hope Whitley keeps us in the game and not let it get out of hand.
Maybe he'll surprise us (me)....GO YANKS!

Tonight's lineup............

CF - Ellsbury
LF - Gardner
3B - Rodriquez
1B - Teixeira
C - McCann
DH - Beltran
RF - Young
2B - Drew
SS - Gregorius

Don't want to sound ridiculous but if Drew and especially Gregorius begin to warm up....the lineup could be so much deeper and potent.

I'll tolerate an eventual low BA (.230?) from Drew with his solid defense as long as he DOES chip in with a few HRs and extra base hits and still think he will during the course of the season.

Gregorius MUST get his BA at least in the .240 range to become an offensive asset with his speed....or at least not become an easy out with little power at the bottom of the order. I also believe this kid's hitting will improve with more playing time.
I know he's not a green rookie, but he could still be an undisciplined impatient hitter who needs more time.

We'll see how this Gregorious thing turns out....couple (220?) hundred at bats should begin to show SOME signals.

Beltran being horrid is making the struggles of Drew and Gregorious even worse.

So far this game I'm impressed with Warren. lets hope it continues & the offense kicks in.

I'm puzzled...why the obsession with emphasizing a couple of guys struggling along with poor BAs on less than 80 ABs ?

I don't get it......ah.... Now I do....instant gratification, and a little bit of:
"I told you so", "Cashman sucks", ect.....

The team is doing okay....oops, I forgot, it's still early and plenty of time for them to lose another 73 games......or was it 83 more losses? Lol

I love what Girardi did with this lineup. He puts Young between Fric (Beltran) &
Frac (Drew)........I guess he thinks Young will rub off on one or both.
You know what I fear? lol

Karns is whippin their asses. They look clueless at the plate.

Wouldn't you know it. Fric & Frac wake up in the 6th inning.
Unfortunately, they both rubbed off on Young.

3-1 Yankees as Drew helps get the run back.

Hey at least we can say that on April 27th the New York Yankees are alone in first place.

Sounds very nice - "alone in first place", and I don't care what the calendar says.
Better than floundering around below .500 and averaging 3.4 runs per game.

And just for the heck of it➡Drew had a single, double and walked.

Let's enjoy it while we can....those POWERHOUSES will soon be rolling.

Who or where they are, I don't know yet.

GO YANKS!

I think Girardi is doing and excellent job with things this season.

Couple of things regarding the bullpen use overral and tonight.
They have pitched the 3rd most innings in the league and of course we need to start getting better, more consistent length from the SP.

They'll be stretches and patches of games with a few blowouts either way and an off day mixed in where Betances and Miller won't be used for a few days but tonight I wouldn't have minded if Girardi allowed Carpenter to at least start the 8th inning with a two run lead instead of going right to Betances.

Carpenter had only faced two batters in the 7th inning....let him at least start the 8th inning and as soon , or if he allowed a baserunner then bring in Betances.....or maybe try and get two outs from Carpenter and use Betances for only 1/3 of an inning.

I know this is nitpicking and managers just can't resist sticking with their formulas and I can't blame Girardi for going directly to Betances to begin the 8th inning with a two run lead. I'm just looking for other ways to try and save or avoid as many innings of use as possible for those two great relievers the Yankees have in Miller and Betances.

Not every one has a perpetual rubber arm like Mariano had.

Those two guys (Betances, Miller) are just so darn important and valuable.

You mean not running DiDi out there everyday? Joe earns his money when he delivers the tough love to CC.

Just for curiosity sakes - seriously - and I haven't looked at or researched (lol) the issue.... but how are all of the "#3" SP in the division and/or league doing overral compared to CC's numbers?....please, don't think I'm trying to say he's having a "good year" and I realize we should be more concerned with CC instead of other team's #3 guys......and I am "concerned" about our tubby #3 SP.
I hear that loud and clear.

Just curious. Anyone?

WTF does that have to do with anything? Try comparing CC's performance with his past abilities. He's pitching like injured CC and he says he feels good. Defending a crappy Chevy sedan because Ford, Mazda and Hundai mid sized sedans suck too isn't an argument. Its a deflection away from a crappy Chevy.
