RHP - Chase Whitley, (4-3 5.23 ERA) 2014 totals.

VS.

RHP - Jake Odorizzi, (2-1 1.65 ERA)

Lineups to follow.

Tonight's lineup.....

CF - Ellsbury
LF - Gardner
1B - Teixeira
C - McCann
RF - Beltran
DH - Jones
3B - Headley
2B - Drew
SS - Gregorius

This is suppose to be one game only for Whitley just to stretch the starters out this one time BUT.....what if this kid throws a great game?

If he pitches a great game, even a good game.....that much more for the
pitching depth.

Petit was sent down to make room for Whitley so the team is currently short a back up infielder & Petit cannot be called back up for at least 10 days. So with the thought that Whitley will be sent back down after this game they're saying that either Pirela or Rhysnyder would be called up.

Please, no more Ryan. He sucks.
Funny thing....he's supposed to be this very good defensive guy....but I just don't have any memories of him making "great plays" in my mind's eye...and he does make errors.
This piece of garbage has been stealing money for too long....get him OUTTA here.

We know about his hitting.......generally speaking ➡He SUCKS!

And don't hold your breath with Whitley....he's one of the more HITTABLE pitchers the Yanks have used.....with NOTHING else indicating he can turn into anything but mediocre.

Why the heck didn't they give some other kid with better stuff the spot start?
Give one of the farmhands a taste of MLB experience.
Mitchell or Montgomery? The experience should could help them and they also have better stuff than this mediocrity who was never anything. Lol

Maybe Mitchell or Montgomery. Yeesh.

Yeah sure, Whitley could surprise us...and that's all it would be - a surprise.

Joe, time to make the tough decision, Beltran is now down to 161 & has become the closest thing to a sure out as there is in baseball. How much longer does the team keep sending him out there with hopes that he'll regain his stroke? hitting 150, maybe 125?

gee whiz....I betcha Girardi and the Yanks would kiss the ground if Whitley could go 7 innings and allow 4 runs.

Nah, maybe not....this could be one of the more rare games where the Yanks don't score at least four runs.

lol

:smiley-pat: You really just can't help yourself can you?

It's completely ridiculous at this point. He just looks lost at the plate.

Lmao Rick.....lol......I wasn't looking to be annoying. lol
I was actually serious regarding WHITLEY tonight....lmao...

For crissakes....just say yes.....lmao...,seriously,..this bullpen is pitching too many innings and what the heck is so bad about a fill-in starter going 7 innings with 4 runs?

Okay Rick, no more "7 innings, 4 runs" stuff....lmao
You're a good man Rick.

Go Yanks!

I wouldn't mind seeing Whitley get a chance.

Wasn't no coral reef and it wasn't Jack the Ripper. It was a shark.

Nice to see the Yankees stick it to Tampa Bay, not happy to hear about Tanaka. All hands will have to suck it up to fill the void. Pitchers all over are going down faster than submarines. Relly pulled for Whitley last year hope he can fill a void. Nice job at the dish by B Mac tonight.

Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies......

I can go slow ahead. Come down and chum some of this shit.

He probably pitched well enough for another start.....then we'll see.
Somebody, preferably at least two (SP) better start giving this team at least 6.2 or so innings on a fairly consistent basis.

The bullpen is good and deep with two situational type lefties (Shreve,Wilson) with ✳Lindgren knocking on the door, and I think Martin can step up and play a bigger role but to tell you the truth, this Carpenter guy, so far from what I've seen stuffwise, looks like another Shawn Kelley.....not bad, nothing special....hope I'm wrong and he becomes VERY reliable and consistent....but he is low on the bullpen totem pole.
No big issue.

✳ This kid Lindgren (LH) has been a strikeout machine since he stepped onto a professional pitcher's mound and is continuing it at AAA - he does need to cut down on his BBs....he could/should still be very effective regardless. Imo

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

"how 'bout chumming some of this sh!t"?

Then he saw the shark and looked as if he saw a ghost...lmao...and he was certainly right about needing a bigger boat. lol

Classic line (you're gonna need a bigger boat) which has made it's way into our lingo as a way of expressing a couple of different things.

Great movie.
Spielberg said the big mechanical shark wasn't working for virtually the whole movie.....so he said, in hindsight it added to the suspense and drama and maybe if the shark was working properly as they wanted..the movie could've been received as just a Godzilla-like monster movie on water.

I guess the shark was supposed to been seen up close and personal more often and Spielberg had to make the "adjustments".

Interesting.
