I just don't feel comfortable with Betances as the closer- - -in fact, I get nervous EVERY TIME he comes in the 9th inning with the game on the line.

Yanks are going to need a good closer and return Betances to the 8th inning.

In spite of themselves the Yankees win and scramble some Kansas City Playoff eggs as well. Took 5 of 7 form them, not too shabby. Pen held up well this evening. I still think Betances reminds me of Wetteland, very adventurous final innings. Bring Mariano back in the spring to work with him.

Yeah, Wetteland.
For some reason Betances doesn't seem to have the same command in the 9th as he does as the setup guy.

Terrible AB by Judge. I have no idea what he's looking for up there and he has to be more aggressive. He took two pitches down the middle to go down looking. The pitcher was daring him to hit it there.

Mess, I could tell you were pissed when i read the 8th straight post on judges AB. LOL. Judge has to be a lot more aggressive early in the count and on one of them takes a couple of meatballs and goes down swinging at one up at his eyes. Sanchez slowing a little bit which was inevitable but might also be teams rather pitch to offenseless tex. Hey Joe, how about putting didi behind sanchez and leaving him in there and get tex's ass down further in the order. In the long run judge and the kids will be fine but these are the growing pains all young kids go through. Even the talented kids who will excel later. Thats what the next month will be all about. Its nice to go through it with something on the line so its more meaningful and yanks somehow still in the hunt only 2 and a half back for wild card. Very good series win over a talented royals team

Judge is young and we already know he strikes put a lot. That said when you see his at bats every night it's a little frustrating watching him taking far too many good pitches.

^^^the Yanx already solved their hitting woes when they fired their previous hitting coach and hire 2 new ones...lol.

...I think maybe Judge just needs more ABs.

Like most hitters, Judge does better when he's ahead in the count. So far he's had only 60 PA/53 AB and it's going to take time before a more reliable pattern is established. He does tend to take pitches and is 3-10, 1 HR, w/loaded bases. Some batters just don't feel comfortable swinging at the first pitch but I think he should be looking for the first good pitch to hit.
He strikes out every 1.9 times at bat after the pitcher gets ahead in the count.
