According to Bob Nightengale they have two offers already that they are considering.

I agree I would do that in a heartbeat. Or something with the Phillies maybe Young and Ruiz for Hughes?

It doesn't make much sense for the Braves, they're in the middle of a race and McCann is helping them big time, is Hughes going to? probably not.

I bet the Braves are interested, but not for McCann.

But I'm just happy to hear they have some sort of offers, that's a move that needs to be made.

...the Braves have another very capable catcher...and Hughes would likely be much better in Atlanta.

I would like something to happen regarding Hughes but we are coming down to the wire. Getting pessimistic on Young also. I was really hoping.

I don't see the Red Soxs giving up more of the farm system to acquire Young. Then again, if the price is cheap then that is different but I don;t think it will be.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Michael Young is willing to waive his no-trade clause to join the New York Yankees, baseball sources said, and now the two teams are trying to work out a deal before the 4 p.m. deadline.

.279The Boston Red Sox are also interested in Young, sources said.

If Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is suspended by baseball under the CBA, he would be unable to play even during an appeal. The Yankees have had little to no production at third base. Young could also play first base, where the Yankees have struggled versus lefties. Joe Girardi would have him DH, as well.

Young has a .770 OPS against righties and a .714 against lefties this season. He is a free agent at the end of the year.

Young, 36, is a seven-time All-Star with a career batting average of .300.

They do have another great C, but Gattis and McCann together make for some good hitting, no need to weaken the offense for Hughes.

Now if NY adds a reliever, and a prospect, then I can see it being a possible move.

I see, a pitcher with a 4.20 will fare well in Boston, but a pitcher with a 4.50 ERA won't fare well in Atlanta. And the Braves lost Hudson.

Braves talked to Yanks but nothing developed. Oh well another trade deadline bust besides Soriano...

Earlier listening to MLB and the splits on Hughes, outside Yankee Stadium 3+ era and home over 6+...
