The Yankees continue to make their trek to the postseason, whether it’d be via the American League East division (the least likely option) or the Wild Card (the more likely option). Regardless, the Yankees have a chance to clinch a playoff spot as early as tonight, but the Yankees would need a little bit of help.

The Yankees can earn their spot in the 2015 postseason if they beat the Boston Red Sox tonight AND if the Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim or if the Seattle Mariners defeat the Houston Astros.

If the Yankees can do that (and if the Athletics and Mariners help a bit), then the only thing that would need to be solved in the American League is who earns the second Wild Card spot to play against the Yankees. Currently the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and the Minnesota Twins are fighting for the final Wild Card spot.

I think the number is three so I think they would only clinch a tie tonight.

You may be right, I'll not contest having to win 3 games, as the initial post, has 3 big IF's........

^^^yup, the Yanx surely don't wanna play a one game and out in Houston...but as tough a Houston is at home, they're terrible on the road...which is why they'll probably get bounced completely out of the PS because their remaining games are at Seattle and at Arizona.

...hell, the Angels are peaking right now and could conceivably win the 2nd WC by simply finishing the regular season 4-3. By the time the have to play the last 2-3 games in Texas, the Rangers may well have already clinched their division and will be resting their regulars for the PS.

I want them to play either the Twins or Angels. Do not want to see Keuchal against these whores.

I'm not sure I want to see the Yanx play the Angels either, tho' they can on the road, just as easily as perhaps the Stro's on the road......

Yanx at home: 44 - 33
On the Road: 42 - 36

Stros road record: 29 Wins - 46 losses
Angels road record: 34 - 43

Stro's Home record: 53 - 28
Angels at Home: 47 - 31

Twinkies at Home: 46 - 32
On the road: 34 - 43

Yeah the Astros have the worst road record of any playoff contending team so they better pray they get HFA.

I got the same feeling HFA is going to be the key in several teams P.S. games......
