Reports are coming out that Reynolds is close to signing with another team. They don't mention who. If true we'll still need a back up 1st baseman. I'd still love to see Morales in pinstripes but with the DH spot pretty much filled between guys like Beltran, Soriano & Jeter & Tex healthy I don't see him signing on as just a part time player (back up to Teixeira).

Regardless if Reynolds signs or not, I am more convinced that Jeter moves to third is in the best interest of the team. I think the Yankees potentially are getting ready to blow the top off the luxury tax.

Sign Tanaka for whatever
Sign Balfour
Sign Drew

We thus declare the off season a success and even if they don't sign Drew which is just a dream on my part, Signing Tanaka without signing a legitimate closer would fill a gap but would not assure a post season in my opinion. A closer allows Robertson to stay where he is comfortable.

But we'll still have no back up for Tiexeira.

Reynolds probably costs too much in the current scheme as a backup 1b,DH,3b .....although I would like to see the Yanks sign him.
He provides good power and depth at 3b,1b and DH.
