Most talented musician of your lifetime.

Mine, Dave Matthews.

Yours?

it's hard to say, considering some musicians were brilliant song-writers, some were brilliant at playing instruments and some were brilliant singers/performers.

I'd say Thom Yorke, Michael Jackson, Prince and James Mercer are all right up there, for me.

Define 'musician'.

Does it have to be someone who plays an instrument? Or are you saying most talented artist?

Jack Johnson FTW!

gotta agree with you there, with norah jones as a side note just because her voice is like heaven  Hard to decide on what my generation is though. I'm 20, so i'd like to think my "generation" is still going on, so both of those are probably a little early for me

Two words: Barry. Manilow.

The matter is settled.

Beethoven.

I'm pretty old.

Barney the purple dinosaur.

Whatever happened to him, anyway? Is he in rehab?

Right Said Fred - They just didn't write a song, they created a way of life!

Most talented? I'd go Dragonforce. I don't understand how they do what they do.

A few thoughts,

Bass - Jaco Pastorius

Drums - Neil Peart

Lyrics - Trent Reznor (odd choice I know, I've just enjoyed a lot of his lyrics)

Guitar - Can't really pick one.

I'd go with John Lennon but he died a month before I was born.

Citizen Cope and Thom Yorke.

Stevie Wonder, James Brown............

Kinda impossible for me to do because there are too many talented ones, imo.

Thom Yorke, of course. Ben Harper is very talented. Victor Wooten is very talented, as is Flea. Many very technical guitarists like Satriani, Vai, Malmsteen.

Most of my favorite musicians were before my time. But as an overall musician I really like Frusciante for his writing ability, guitar playing, vocals, and then his keyboard/piano playing, bass playing, and the way he records his own music and is amazing with effects.
