My friend got Magic Johnson's autograph about two or three years ago at the Maui Invitational. He was there for one night and I was too afraid to go up to him so my friend did. I'm such an idiot.

I have a Dahntey Jones and a Pau Gasol signature.Pau actually goes to this place called Fox and Hound alot, where my sister works so shes seen him come in several times. She knows Im a big Griz fan so before my heart surgery she saw him come in and asked if he could sign a picture for me since I was having surgery and he gladly did it and sent it over. It was pretty cool of him....I got my Dahntey Jones signature cause my brother works with this guy whos mom works with the Griz organization...and somehow or whatever he got her hands on a jersey D Jones signed but werent given out, so she gave it to her son, who knew I liked bball alot(I guess my brother told him about me or something) and he gave it to my brother to give to me...so thats pretty cool too.

PFF, you're just jealous. One of the player's jobs is to make the fans happy.. Signing autographs is what makes fans happy... The fans literally pay their salary.

If I were in there posistion I wouldn't want it either. What are the players gonna do? Say, I can't accept 10 million dollars because I won't sign autographs

Why you feel the need to post in every topic even if you are clueless about it is really beyond me.Most athletes only get "hounded" (which is a ridiculous word to use here) at the arena/ballpark/track/course...whatever you wanna call it. Or at the team hotel when they go in or leave. Or finally they go to autograph shows where they get paid to sign and spend hours there doing it. Most players aren't too bothered outside of those areas cause people do understand what the word "privacy" means...its the media thats always hounding these stars in other places cause they are looking for any type of story on them. Anyway, its the right of the player to just politely say no and move on, which many of them do. It doesn't make them a bad person at all and it's understandable that they may not want to sign. In everything I've read or seen in person, I've never seen an athlete get pissed off about autograph seekers, they just politely say "not today" or just wave and walk away. But from all the experiences I have, the players feel it is an honor to sign autographs for people and they feel great that someone would take the time to ask them for a signature. They love taking time to sign and talk with us cause they understand that we are the ones that help pay their salaries and let them make millions. Maybe if you had gotten to experience times like this you'd actually understand autograph collecting and how athletes treat the subject.
