You “heard” this?

well, there are hundreds of hours of sports talk on the radio and on the internet, every day. It's entirely possible to hear things

you might not have been aware of that, but, for instance, if you were working in media in some capacity, and not in a perpetual coma, you would have been

It's not even a matter of rumor. That's literally what he was traded for before it fell apart because the Celtics didn't have time to wait for the physicals.

Folks on here act like Brogdon could've easily fetched a 1st and Cronin chose not to. Lol.

Circumstance matters. The Clippers were more desperate at the time, since it was before they got Harden.
No one knows what other valuations of Brogdon there were at the deadline around the league.

I like Simons but I don't see a scenario where Scoot, Sharpe and Simons makes sense. Gotta deal one of Scoot or Simons.
It depends on what direction you want to go in. If you want a full on youth movement you keep both Scoot & Sharpe. If you want to speed the process you look to move Sharpe for more of a developed/more polished player. Question is does this organization really have much of a direction?

OK. Glad you have it all figured out. How many rookies do you think the team can develop at one time?

Don't know who pissed in your cheerios but whatever.

IMO if she would've have sold the team to Phil Knight, Dame would still be here.

She has ran this team into the ground and doesn't seem to care about it IMHO. She didn't go on an exhaustive search for a GM and he's destroyed my favorite team and traded away it's best player ever. I haven't watched a game all season.

So what would've been your plan in 2-3 years when Dame is washed and the team got bounced in the 1st round 3 more years? We obviously had Zero assets to improve them team with Dame on it.

Hunh? You were laughing your ass off at my thought that the Blazers should stop intentionally tanking next year. My comment was responding to that. I think it’s a legitimate question as to how many young players a team can develop at one time. The Blazers have a very young roster as it is, will probably add 2-3 more rookies this summer, but some folks are intent on adding more next offseason.

Fir the record, I am very much in agreement with the idea that the team is long overdue for new ownership.

We have serious problems here. 2-3 players under huge albatross contracts that aren't appealing in trades. A horrible GM, Coach, and Owner.

Until this changes, and I mean all of it, we are going to be cellar dwellers. You can expect this level of mediocrity until she folds to Phil Knight by 2028.

Then we'll all be saying what could've been. I've resigned myself to this probability.

Bro, I haven't watched a SINGLE game of my favorite team on the planet. I have never done this. The way she's running this team has sucked the life out of me.

Fan is short for fanatic....

Who are the albatross contracts?

Simons? I disagree.

Ayton? Sure, maybe. But I think we finally figured out how to use him and I think he could be a top 5 center in the league.

Grant? I think he's paid commensurate with what he brings on the floor. His contract isn't bad and I still think very tradeable because of how few wings there are.

I'm not sure who you think has albatross contracts. I'm not arguing they don't exist, I'm just not seeing them. Jerami's contract looks pretty reasonable given his two way productivity, Ant's also seems reasonable even though he's only a scorer, especially since it's only two more seasons, Deandre's contract is one that the Pacers wanted to give him but the Suns chose to keep him with so that has to be something that we could move without adding draft picks. The only other salary that approaches being "big" is Malcolm and I think he is making the right amount of money for what he brings and his is expiring.

I'm not saying that you get a king's ransom for these guys, I just think all of them are highly moveable with positive value.

I think Joe actually has us on an optimal path. Unfortunately, that path leads to mediocrity. I stopped watching, too.

Had Scoot been a little more efficient on O, had fewer TOs while keeping the assists up, and not be injured, it would have been an intriguing season. Alas, with Sharpe injured as well, it was not. We lost a game by 60 fucking points.

He's not gonna respond. Just likes to complain and make wild statements without backing them up.

That would be like somebody accidentally stumbling upon THIS place and “READING” a post by the Uber Driver……then going somewhere and claiming that you “READ” that so in so is doing such and such.

He “HEARD”….. give me a break. When you claim you “HEARD” something one should probably include that it came from somebody who has no clue.

I wonder when Joe will be ready for some big game hunting? He couldn’t possibly keep up with Danny.

kind of like "I heard from HCP..."?

I’ve lost track - was this year 3 of tanking?
I don't think extending Dame and trading for Jerami Grant was part of a tank job. Dame signed the ectension in July of 2022 and we'd acquired Grant the month before.

So.... I think this was arguably the first year of tanking, but even then re-signing Grant and Thybulle and not trading Brogdon aren't the moves of a tanking team.

It's all about definitions, I suppose, but I don't think we've really started tanking properly at all, which makes our record even more pathetic.

We've been using the beginning months of each year to give honest effort and get real evaluations of how the roster fits and performs.
Once the deadline passes and no moves come to fruition, there's still time to pivot to full-tank and reap the benefits.

Not a bad hybrid-strategy, to be honest. It's working out.

hey, at least Uber Driver stays awake for the games. I'm pretty sure the Blazers showed HCP sleeping on the job.

I can't tell if you're serious.

You think this is going WELL? We only have a couple young players of consequence. We only have a few extra future first rounders at the end of the decade. We have three horrible years of losing and we moved the best Blazer ever. We are locked into a massive deal with an age 30+ Jerami Grant.

Hopefully we are younger and better in a couple of years, but it won't be as good as we would have been had we traded our veterans for value (rather than re-signing them or extending and then trading them) and used salary cap space to take on bad contracts in return for future value.

He should have flipped Timelord and Brogdon as soon as he got them. Their value has very clearly depreciated. The word that they want to be like the Rockets is also quite worrisome and short sighted. The talk that they want to trade the GS pick seems short sighted as well.
What deal should he have taken? I think we well know their value. Perhaps we didn't get an offer we liked? I do know we shopped Brogdon hard at the deadline.

I agree. He had value to Dallas since they had the ability to sign him for just money.

He had no value to Philadelphia (a good team) before he was traded in terms of earning significant minutes. He has had no value to Portland (a bad team) in terms of him helping win games.

I don't understand why any team would look at the dude and think he's worth giving up value to get when he's not worth the money he's being paid.
I think he has value to a playoff team who requires what he brings. He's a unique player who I think can bring value on the trade market.

He brought back almost nothing to Philadelphia, and since then he's (a) got older, (b) played worse, and (c) signed a larger contract.

Anything is possible, I guess, but it doesn't seem likely to me.

Huh? Your thinking Jody is waiting until Phil Knight is 90 to buy the team?

Agreed with those points, yeah we could be doing a better job of acquiring assets.

Im not sure what he meant, but I assumed his "tanking well" comment or whatever may have only been in regard to the draft picks from losing ... In that aspect yeah we've done well.

Without a coach who is any sort of good, Brogdon being Scoot’s mentor on the court is essential; we kind of can’t trade him without a better coach… maybe we should bring Stotts back; at least he made the playoffs a few times.
