If we started 100% of our rookies end of last year and start 100% day1 this year it'll be only one rookie starting.
Very rare for us to only have one drafted rookie on the roster. 2016 we did with Jake Laymen and 2020 with CJ Elleby. They were both 2nd round picks though. Need to go back to Qyntel Woods in 2002 when our only rookie was a first round pick from what I can tell. Actually crazy how many 2nd round picks as rookies we've had on the roster over the years. For an average NBA team it should be 1 per year but we had tons of years with multiple ones. I guess that was part of Paul Allen being willing to spend a bit more money and loving the draft. Certainly had a number of very good role players throughout those years.
There’s good players in every draft, no matter how bad the draft. No stars yet in this draft but plenty of difference makers
Couldn’t find the Rookie Thread for this season. Haven’t been really following this rookie class. How are those top 10 picks doing? Living up to the hype?
Why are you discussing the rookies from the last draft class? You told us all to stop discussing them because they were all horrible. Take your own advice.
Memphis found a starter in the 2nd round. Castle looks like he has star potential. Knecht looks like an above average role player. Missi looks really nice. Clingan looks like he could be a defensive beast if he stays healthy. It was a good year to not get a top 3 picks. Now there’s a draft where we really need a top 3 pick and other teams are tanking harder than us. We should’ve scrapped the vets for whatever in return over the offseason. Instead we’re going to hold onto them too long and mess up our chances for a top pick in this loaded draft. Which is very cringy.
We just need to get rid of them. We need high odds for a top 3 pick. Right now the odds aren’t good enough
Flagg went off for a smooth 42. Imagine the guy after 5 nba years when he is an old fart at 23-4. POR has to seriously start benching the vets, letting youth start and close games. Talkin to you Billups! They have to maximize odds of getting the best pick possible. If they miss out of the top 5 pick this year will be an even worse failure than it already is.
I've been saying that I wish we were playing a smarter game of capture the Flagg. Ace Bailey is badass as well. If we end up outside of the top 3 lotto spots and end up outside the top 2 picks then it'll be worse mismanagement of the team than letting LaMarcus walk for nothing. I say this because at least 5 of our wins have been with either Ant or Jerami leading the way.
Scoot has to be closing games. How is supposed to excel on crunch time ? Even if he blows it, so what?
It's low IQ to win meaningless games heavily featuring guys who won't be around when the wins count, even if they only increase your odds of landing a generational talent by a fraction of a percent. I don't care how low the odds are... wins this season aren't worth making them lower. And what are you laughing out loud about?
I’m about creating winning culture, not a 10% chance at some dude that it doesn’t really actually matter if we win 20 games or 30 games because it’s still not great odds either way. TANK4FLAGG is by default a low I.Q. strategy because it’s hardly even a strategy.
