Oregon State got first Elite Eight berth. South Carolina played their first close game of tournament, winning by four.
Zach Edey with another big game, huge Q is will he translate "enough" in the new NBA, 20 yrs ago he was likely a #1 pick. now maybe 10-25. I know that's a really wide zone but it's that kind of draft and he's that kind of "unknown" as far as how he might fit or be unplayable because of possible huge D liability and slowness.
Usually, I am a fan of having a variety of centers on the bench. Edey or Cligan fit in the center with size category. Thankfully Ayton is pretty versatile when it comes to centers. He can do a little of everything. Maybe not great but still pretty damn good. But we can't rely on Williams to stay healthy so one of them might be a worthwhile pick to back up Ayton. (also assurance if he gets hurt) I still like Reath, but I think he is more of a 3rd team center who can also play a little stretch 4 at times.
Monday LSU and Iowa play for a Final Four slot. Expect ratings off the charts. After close win against West Virginia, Iowa took no prisoners today and Clark was as advertised. LSU and UCLA were tied mid fourth quarter until LSU went on a tear. USC and Baylor in close one, USC up two with just over a minute to go.
Odd factoid. All the #1 seeds advanced to the Elite Eight but none of the #2. Guess they didn't try harder.
Go read the draft reports on Jokic and get back to us? My point is not that he might be the next Jokic but more that you never know how a guy will play if he is smart. Zach Edey plays smart.
Going to be interesting to see how many of them are recruited to other schools through the transfer portal for next season with the Beav's conference issue.
38/16 so far for Edy He moves just as well as a Vucevic/Jokic. Extremely impressed with Edy and Clingan’s mobility in this tourney.
