We don't want any more guards who think they should be starters (and are paid like one). However, a young, athletic defensive point guard (like Black) would be a great acquisition, and a great complement to Scoot/Sharpe. And if they believe Banchero/(M) Wagner/Isaac are their preferred 4/5 rotation, then WCJ is expendable--and would be a solid 4/5 backup here.

As far as picks are concerned, they have 2 FRP's next year--we would likely ask for one of those rather than us having a 3rd FRP this year. If we did get 18, either Ware or Missi will likely be available at that spot.

I like the Spurs because he just fits a huge need that they have and would cost them a lot less than Garland would. He also is a beast in the PnR and with Wemby he'd be scary. I know that if they don't pick up the option on Graham and let the cap holds go on a bunch of guys I don't see them re-signing, that they'd have room to bring Ant in without losing anyone currently on their roster. They would also be able to fill their roster just by picking up the options on Bassey and Champagnie along with signing the 4th pick and both of their second rounders. A Castle, Simons, Keldon Johnson, Sochan, Wemby starting lineup seems to make a lot of sense with Vasell, Jones, Collins and Champagnie coming off a deep bench that would still have guys like Branham and Bassey.

I think pick 8 for Ant straight up might make a lot of sense for both teams, especially if Salaun and Williams are both still available.

if Simons has to go the the DMV right now, he probably won't be available on opening night

Simons is a Blazer 4 Life

he's going to get a max extension. It will be a massive number that makes him even harder to trade. He gets to quit his seasons early, so he's totally cool with being a Blazer.

the podcasters have challenged Blazer fans to find a rookie/sophmore on this team who can step in and play better then 6 year pro Anfernee Simons. If you can't, then fans who want to trade Simons will always be wrong.

Oh... and the new discussion factoid is the Moda Center is at 90% capacity during every home game. If you happen to see entirely empty sections, those fans are waiting in line for bagel dogs during quarters 1 thru 4.

Afraid I just don't see Joe making big moves. It is not clear what the market for Ant is at this stage.

He might actually be the least desirable of our vets. I bet a lot of teams would be interested in Jerami or Brogdon, slightly fewer in Ayton or Williams (for different reasons) and then Ant at the bottom.

I like his game, especially in a three guard rotation with Scoot and Shaedon. Some have suggested that we could get him and either pick 18 or Denver's pick in the next draft. I would think if Joe is serious about moving 14 into the top ten that he'd possibly be able to with the draft asset he lands in this trade and maybe even another he gets in a trade for Malcolm or Jerami.

Well he is can definitely a willing defender with good instincts......despite his poor wing span. (Again it is shorter than both Ant and Scoot) so his height is not that big of a advantage. I think he is a decent enough 3 pt shooter to keep the defense honest.

But is he a good PG? Good handles? I have no idea but if he is then he might be a good option as part of the deal. Assuming we like who is available at 18. He is only 20 and he does have a good vertical.

    He traded Dame and CJ.

The moves don't get any bigger.

Here is a breakdown pre draft on Black by a Orlando fan. It did not excite me.

One possibility I had not considered is that the Magic might sign-and-trade Markelle Fultz?

Don't know if I'd go for that. Fultz is a lot of the things that Black is but he's shorter and older. But then, I've long had a jones for a big PG who can't shoot drafted #1 by Philadelphia...

No kidding, Kevin had a drink or 4 too many. IN THIS DRAFT with NO clear Tiers or favorites that's a horrible giveaway for Portland

I too am passing on Black. Trading Ant to Orlando may make sense for Orlando but I don’t see it for Portland.

Why trade Ant to NY Knicks? Well, the Knicks could use a 2 guard that can score for starters. Bojan Bogdanović has one year remaining, so we can take him, flip him or move him at the deadline for draft capital. And the Knicks have all of their own #1 picks for like the next six years. So let’s get an unprotected 1st in 2026 or 2027.

Why trade Ant (along with Thybulle or Williams) to Brooklyn Nets? We take Simmons off Brooklyn’s hands and in return, they give us the 2025 PHX unprotected #1 pick and the worst of their three #1 unprotected picks in 2029 (Own / Dallas / PHX); or at least a pick swap in 2029. This gets us some very decent draft capital in return for Ant and Thybulle and a flyer of sorts on Simmons for a year.

So these are my reasons for including the Knicks and Nets
