I never have “acted like I know so much about this draft”
Like I posted on here a couple months ago….I’ve heard from MULTIPLE people, whose job it is to know, that this is a horrible draft, maybe one of the worse ever. Thats all I shared. Don’t know why I’m getting cracked on for simply sharing this. Yet I read on here EVERY DAY hundreds of times how excited people are for these players…… but you keep on keeping on.

Please keep sharing what you are “hearing” about this draft.

Wemby and Chet are being used as forwards. Nobody is effectively defending Joker.

They do post up inside too and they block out on the d side for boards. Thats cool, they can stay stretch 4's all they want.

Holmgren played exclusively at C with Jaylin Williams (and minor actors) backing him up.

that was pretty much the same for Wemby. He and Zach started for the first 20 games, but then SA gave up on the experiment and settled in with Wemby as the starting C

as far as I can tell, there was only one team that used a twin towers with 2 lumbering drop-coverage C's and that was Minny. And Minny just had their ass handed to them by a team employing a pair of highly mobile C's capable of defending the perimeter. C's who play the opposite of KAT/Gobert. And keep in mind, between them Gobert and KAT have 4 DPOY awards; 7 first team all-NBA-defense awards; 6 all-NBA awards; and 7 all-star games. It's not quite the same as trotting out two stiffs like Ayton and Clingan

Cleveland had a twin towers lineup, but Allen and Mobley are both very mobile C's able to switch on defense

I’ll be surprised if we get a player who impacts the Blazers’ rotation as much as Camara did. More likely a Kris Murray.

Definitely not. I like Ayton but his usage makes him not be a long term solution.

It would help if you elaborated a little more on what exactly they said 2 months ago. And just because comparatively speaking it is a bad draft does not mean there are not some really good prospects to get excited about. There is a big difference between it being a bad draft and just not having a generational player. And since we are drafting at 7, a generational player is a moot point for us anyways.

There are still a lot of players IMO that could turn out to be all stars. Granted I don't know for sure that is the case, but quite frankly neither do the people you have talked to. I say this based on the fact that every year people who should know, miss on their evaluations. Not because they are idiots, but because it is really hard to guess which players will work their asses off to get better. And every player in every draft has to improve in order to be a star. They call the draft a crap shoot for a reason.

Look at all the misses in this draft: (Luka at 3, SGA at 11, Brunson at 33)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_NBA_draft

Are your guys absolutely certain that there aren't 7 players in this draft that could be good?

Can we be certain Reed Sheppard won't turn out to be another Dame? Hell be could be better

I saw Jaylen Brown play at Cal. Lots of athletic ability but who knew if he could shoot.
Ron Holland looks about the same to me at that age. In 3 years he could develop just as much. We just don't know.

So yeah I can see why some could get excited for this draft because there could be a number of 19 years out there who could work their asses off
in order to reach another level.

Mobley and Allen aren't really an example of this working as the teams offense doesn't work in the playoffs without a 3pt shooter.

I didn't say it worked. It didn't IMO, and it may be why we heard some rumors about Cleveland shopping Jarrett Allen

    my worst case scenario is:
    - sarr
    - risacher
    - holland
    - castle
    - matas
    - cody

basically oops, all wings in front of us.

I think it’s a vocal minority, tbh. this draft sucks.

I do not think this draft sucks but has more players who are more likely to be very good role players over players who might be an All Star within 3 to 5 years.

Point is that there are players from last seasons draft that went outside the top 15 that we'd be happy to have.

So we have the opportunity nab one or two solid players. Nobody expects us to get much more than a productive player out of this draft.

So why not get two? At least that is the way I'm looking at it.

I believe that we must trade up - to #1 - 3, in effort to land a wing AND perhaps move Grant or another vet.

If you can do it with tisse and seconds I’m into it. I’d only move Brogdon and Grant for future protected picks. Gotta diversify the pickfolio, and if it means waiting until after the new league year so be it.
