Cosign on Hive Social. Having tried all the brunch spots, it's easily the best.

    2nd is Jam.

And yes, the troutdale food cart slaps hard. They have a montage there. Need I say more?

As an avowed East-sider, I second McCrae's. Also, Gateway Breakfast House is always strong (If it's good enough for Obama, it's good enough for you).

If your family member is into Twilight, you can get breakfast at the Carver Cafe.

Nobody is gonna mention the HotCake House at the base of the Ross Island Bridge? Sacred ground!

    Great food there!

Though the last few weeks I've driven by there, anywhere between 10 and noon, no one was there. Dunno whats been going on there.

Best cheap pre-church breakfast in the area. If you love watching old Christians eat it’s the best.

There’s also Original Pancake House, the restaurant that only takes cash and has like 30 ways it makes pancakes.

If kids are going then Slappy Cakes is a good spot. You get to make your own pancakes.

Slappy Cakes is hilarious. The worst place in the universe if you don't like extremely loud sounds.
