If we beat Denver, we will have the same record. Because of tiebreakers, they will have the higher seeding, but...... do they also win the division crown, or do they share it with us? Are we playing for a banner??
My understanding is that they clinched the NW division title last night. Not a tie for the Divison Title. Seems stupid if two teams go down to the 5th or 6 tie breaker.
As far as the NBA is concerned, only Denver wins the division, there are no co-champions. Portland is free to talk about it how they like and raise banners for whatever they want, but there won't be any official division championship won, I don't think.
Brian (New Jersey): Chad, two part question. One who's your sleeper pick in the draft and two who is your sleeper team for next year? SportsNation Chad Ford: Sleeper pick? Eric Maynor of VCU. I think he should be a lottery pick. Sleeper team in the NBA? I think Portland could be a 60 win team next year and a potential NBA Finals team.
I'm not sure Portland qualifies as a "sleeper" next season. One of the most talented teams in the NBA, still improving, may finish just 6 wins short of that this year and that's with Oden missing a lot of time and being less than 100%. I really think 60 wins is a reasonable expectation, not a potential surprise result. Nice to see Portland get some positive mentions in the national press, though.
co-division champs in my book! Sorry but not even winning the season series and them having a better division record shouldn't get them all the media and hype..same record..same head to head record..2009 NW CO-CHAMPS!
OH FUCK, THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END--apparently I agree with Chad Ford about the Blazers and Eric Maynor (who I believe Pritchard is going to target in the draft).
