I helped Karla get a paypal account set up today so everyone who wants to donate can do so in lieu of flowers. She wants me to let everyone know she is very appreciative of all the thoughts and prayers you have sent. The e-mail to use is kbabybutters@yahoo.com and the link to paypal is here also. https://www.paypal.com/ Being one of Michael's best friends I can't tell you enough how proud I am of this board for all the thoughts and prayers being sent. I am so glad Michael got me hooked on the other board and then to this one when things changed. The RIP thread for MGB http://sportstwo.com/threads/251567-RIP-MGB
From the Paypal site go to transfer and then click on send someone money. That is where you will enter her e-mail address. Thanks again!
Make sure she knows Paypal might lock her down if she gets too much money too fast; she may need to call Paypal to get it all cleared.
I sent $100. For those unfamiliar with Paypal, if you donate with a card they charge a fee. I always try to use my bank account or balance to keep the credit card companies/Paypal from getting richer and more money for the person I am sending it to.
So ... what are we paying for if we donate money? I've donated money to a band on this board so they could travel and live their dream. Is this basically a memorial contribution to Karla? A better idea may be to put MGB's tickets up for sale for every game, with at least a $10 mark-up in memory of MGB.
What happened to his mother who had the very bad bus accident? We all encouraged him to have her sue. I asked if one of the lawyers who post here could help. Then MGB said that a lawyer on this board had come forward, but apparently did not want to be named. I don't understand why. I got the impression that MGB was too weak fighting for his own life to help her much. Anyway, is his mother alive, and if so what is the condition of 1) her and 2) the lawsuit against the bus system for their horrible negligence.
His mother passed away on Thanksgiving last year and Michael passed away two days before Thanksgiving this year. All I will say about the lawsuit is it is still a work in progress.
I wish someone could find that OT board thread with him describing the bus event. I got the impression that he was too busy trying to stay alive to be overcome by sadness about her. Did he have siblings? Something tells me there's even more sadness in this story. Karla, I know you're a hero. I took care of my mother jlprk for 4 years after Parkinson's Disease paralyzed her. It was 7 days a week. My wife warned me she'd find a new husband, then she did.
Thanks Mags! I know at least one other person has sent some money. We are having some issues with the money showing up in her account. I think she needs to confirm her e-mail and when I talk to her today I will work on that with her.
We finally got everything working. Karla now has a balance of over 400 dollars with more pending. Thanks again for all the help and support.
