I talked with mgb yesterday and he said that before his recent setback that he had wasted $900 fighting red tape in order to have surgery to reduce his weight. He did not get the surgery and it could not have hurt his chances of avoiding the need for care currently. Personally I think it is a shame his insurance is not being more encouraging of preventive maintenance, but have found it is better to figure out the loopholes that work in your advantage rather than fighting the system for the ones that are a hinderance. Before the season started, Mike knew that making a game was unlikely. We held out hope for him to see the Heat game in March and he sold me all of his tickets up until that time. As anyone that sit in his seats can confirm, they are worth more than the price he puts on them and I was able to recover my investment pretty quickly. I still have three of those pairs available too, so here is what I think would be a good use for them. I have not talked with his wife yet about what it is going to cost or how much the insurance company is willing to contribute, but Mike said the surgery would probably be around 5k. Will look into getting this taken care of within the system, but in the meantime starting to raise funds cannot hurt. My plan is to help with these costs by auctioning off the three pairs of tickets as well as selling Blazer vouchers and single tickets I cannot use. The single tickets are in section 307 row L seat 2, which is closer to the corner and great value for being a tan ticket. No markup, just asking $10 per ticket. Have tickets for the Cleveland game this Sunday, Phoenix Friday Jan 27th, Minnesota March 3rd, and Denver Feb 4th. Vouchers are good for Food/Drink or items in the Rose Gargen gift shop. Selling vouchers dollar for dollar and a great way to help if you were going to be spending money at the game anyhow. Games I have left are Monday January 23rd vs Sacramento, Wednesday Feb 1st vs Charlotte, and Tuesday Feb 21 vs San Antonio. Will start the bidding at $125 per pair and think a good stoptime for the auction would be the end of the second quarter of the Cleveland game Sunday. The seats are his handicapped ones in 207 row L. If you have not sit in these before, they are fold up chairs on the corner on the visiting bench side. Half the time the comp all you can eat wristbands since they are only accessible thru the Lexus level. Personally I love them just for the space and shorter wait times for the bathroom. Post your bids in this thread and I will try to update them frequently. Every dollar I collect will go towards helping Mike. If you are interested in vouchers or single tickets, hit me up at the game. Will be sitting in 305 row H seats 1 + 2 tonight and also have my Charcoal F Blazer jersey on. If you still cannot find me, send a PM and will have my phone on.
Monday January 23rd vs Sacramento $125 Wednesday Feb 1st vs Charlotte $125 Tuesday Feb 21 vs San Antonio $125
Sorry to hear about mgb's troubles. I'd like to get the ticket for the game this Sunday, the 8th vs Cleveland if it's still available and I'll kick in $25. I'll send a PM.
I'll start the bidding. $125 for the SA game. In the spirit of mags, if I win the auction, I'll donate the tickets to the january winner of gramps game.
I'm going to look at my finances "Supercharger for my Jeep", "Family Trip to Europe" and if I got some left over, I will definitely help.
I'll donate $100 to the fund. Let me know how to get you the money Charcoal Filtered. No ticket necessary.
So I will be matching any donations on tickets up to $500 ($1500 total). That puts us at $50 from the Cleveland single and we are currently at $250 ($125 X 2), plus $125 X 2 (my min bids for the other two) for a total of $550.
Okay wait, I'm not getting this... I bought tickets to March 27 and 29th. Are there any other games that week?
You can hit me up at the game tonight or paypal @ M_Walburn@hotmail.com. Also putting up my pair of season seats for the Cleveland game. They are pretty nice reds because they are as far on the corner you can get at that price level, aisle, and have no one in front. Nice leg room and are sec 305 row H. Will sell for $50 and will match $50.
I will get them and you donate whatever. Will be Army seats though So be ready and do not embarrass me by sitting.
