The retailer's website explains that the console is "currently sold out", though there's no word on whether this is a permanent state of affairs or if the company is trying to increase its stock before reopening pre-orders. A statement provided to GameInformer reads, "Due to high demand for the system, GameStop is not currently taking additional store reservations for the PlayStation 4." IGN has reached out to GameStop for clarification about whether we can realistically expect pre-orders to reopen at some stage in the future or not. Back in March, GameStop's president expressed his belief that demand for Sony's new console would far outstrip supply in the launch window; this sentiment was later echoed by Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House amid the company raising its sales projections for the device. Judging by this latest development, it seems this could well be the case.
I have one preordered on Amazon, Gamestop won't have enough. I can already see all of the people bitching about not getting one.
It's a playstation 4. If the hardware and firmware are radically different/better than the PS3, then the old games won't work. The companies that made the old games would have to port to the new hardware system and you'd have to buy a new version. So initially, there are no games. At launch, some games. Just wondering how many.
Exactly. I'm not a gamer whatsoever. But, a good buddy of mine is and I love getting down on those games. And those games only.
I'm not a huge gamer anymore but it's amazing to me how far they have come in the gaming world today. Some of the games like Uncharted and The Last of Us it's almost like your playing though a movie. I really enjoyed those games.
They do play like a movie. The hardcore gamers I know play these games start to finish in a matter of days, though. I don't know that they play the games over and over again or move on to something else. I suspect it's move on to something else. Games like Madden have great replay value.
I wasn't planning on getting one on release date because my first PS3 lasted about 6 months, but I just tried to pre-order a PS4 on Amazon for launch day and they aren't taking orders either.
