If this is Oden's 4th season ending knee injury, why is anyone talking about what he'll do after this season? These last two were not even sustained while he was playing basketball, the 2nd when he was simply jumping into the air, and no one knows where the 1st game from.
There is obviously something wrong with his body.

If he gets injured doing nothing, how do you expect him to survive a basketball season? Greg Oden is not "setback" he's done. Forget about him.

They don't have to rescind the QO; GO isn't eligible to sign it. From what I understand (assuming this part of the CBA remains unchanged), we get the benefit of having the right of first refusal next year. As I said before, this year is like a QO mulligan.

thanks. I'm curious though, it sounds like that could also be written to where, you have the ROFR THIS season, or the season that player has the injury, but you ar enot required to offer the QO.

Maxiep, great find. It'll be very interesting to hear if we get confirmation from the team that Greg will be a RFA next offseason.

I was away from my computer all afternoon, and I come back to this? And LaMarcus' heart problem?

Being a Portland Trail Blazers fan is just so fucking surreal. There is nothing else like it. Seriously, who needs drugs? Such a blessing.

Maybe we'll be like the Spurs. Our HOF center is injured. Get another HOFer in the draft. Our HOF center comes back healthy. Championships ensue. Management lauded as geniuses for the next decade. It could happen, right? Sure it could. Just not to us.

Sure it could. It's about to (roughly) happen to the Indianapolis Colts. Their first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback goes on the shelf and they're going to be in position to draft what's considered the best quarterback prospect since Peyton Manning.

But yes, it doesn't happen to the Blazers. Shame. I thought in 2007 that the franchise had finally caught the break they'd been waiting for, for around three decades.

I hope you are right. Why are they being so secretive about Greg's "Setback"? Buchanon wouldn't comment on the Nature of Greg's injury, how it may have occurred, if it could be rehabbed, etc. He also wouldn't comment on the specifics of the restructured deal. What's to gain by being secretive about the whole thing?

On 'Talkin Ball', someone heard the setback is a gimpy non-weight bearing ligament. So, I guess that means surgery to replace it. I could see that sidelining him until the Summer. Like all his injuries....it doesn't close the book, but it's another domino falling.

Out of sight, out of mind...

Could do wonders for this fanbases' psyche.

Though, that depends on the roster moves they make.

It goes beyond the fans' psyches. This team can't move forward as long as they use Oden and Roy as a built in excuse for failure. If the team only won 20 games, Nate would still be bullet-proof, because it wasn't *his* fault Roy and Oden missed so much time, etc.

Nobody said coming up with a "plan B" was going to be easy....but waiting to get started won't make it any easier. The team almost lost the fanbase once - they won't keep them with hoplessness and inertia. They need to show that they are making an honest effort to climb out of this pit.

Of course, that assumes Allen still cares about the team and/or keeping the team in Portland. :smiley-grom:

It is hard to not be glooming today. Everything seems like its ending for this team and since this undisclosed setback is GO my optimism is at an all time low. I'm trying to wait to hear more specifics before i'm jumping on the "GO is gonna miss the season again, goodbye the next 8 years while we slide threw mediocrity then try and rebuild when we realize were a one and done team."

    "suffers" setback

G.O. didn't suffer anything, whatever is going on with his ligaments is what it is.

I think this fits more along the lines of not healing properly vs. getting injured again. I find some solace in this. And like you said, we haven't gotten any specifics yet.

But yea what a day, will live in Infamy! It's gotta be the super large lunar eclipse
