I'll definitely go to a MLB game in Vegas on the Strip. I think it will be awesome.

The plot of land they want to build the stadium on is not 15 acres. Closer to 8.

Wheeler deserves some credit here. Before leaving office, the much-maligned mayor urged the city council to approve a resolution pledging support for the project into the future. It passed 5-0. Sources indicated that measure was more than symbolic: It gives direction to city staff and could help push through permitting and infrastructure when — if — it’s time to build.
The incoming mayor, Wilson, has continued that
    support.

Officials who were previously skeptical of the project now seem to have jumped on board. Sources described the Diamond Project as being aligned with the business community in ways it previously was not. Cheek’s group has enlisted veteran lobbyist Gary Oxley to be on the ground in Salem. Economist Mike Wilkerson — of “doom loop” fame — is on board as a consultant.

The group has the backing of City Hall, the Portland Metro Chamber and Travel Oregon. The AFL-CIO has shown support.

Architecture firm Populous, which delivered the renderings, has an office in Portland. Gard Communications, a high-powered Portland firm, is handling the group’s PR.

Said Cheek: “We wouldn’t be spending millions of dollars if we didn’t feel like it was the right time and the right place with the right vision.”

This should shut the haters up who say these people are grifters or not serious…

Been here done this. Vera was all about baseball to Portland….it didn’t happen. It’s not happening.
The one thing I love reading though is he thinks Portland is a big city and needs to start acting like one

Before Covid Portland was the best small city in the country.

I’ve never got the small city thing. It’s the 27 largest in the country, right with Detroit

It's a weird victim mentality, and also refusal to accept that it's a bigger city than people think.

But it's easier to just say Portland is small and undeserving, instead of wanting change. Also, it "justifies" why there aren't any typical "big city" things here (in this scenario, other team from the big 4).

The 05 attempt was nowhere near as organized and serious as this one. The group was just, at best, a mom and pop group of internet dorks organizing things.

If it doesn’t, it won’t be bc Portland wasn’t serious. So atleast admit that

From what I just showed you, what part isn’t serious enough? Every major power move that needs to be aligned is.

Plus state lawmakers are in the brink of turning the 150M SB5 bill into 800-900M.. what more would you want?

Iirc Craig Cheek promised a press conference soon with info on the prospective owner. I remember a Japanese billionaire was rumored at one time. That would be cool.

Don’t just talk about it, BE about it

This is how Portland needs to think with this stuff
