Damn. Already starting to feel old (as I hit the big 3-0 in a week - SHIT!). But that really makes me feel old. He should dye his hair. Nobody would know (unless they've seen him without).
“our youth now love luxury. they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their parents, chatter before company; gobble up their food and tyrannize their teachers.” socrates
Shit, I'm in the wine industry (and have been for a decade now), and I can't stand wine parties. Believe me, I drink a lot of wine, but the snarky wine parties? No bueno.
Nothing about Ace of Base "was the tits". Their music sucked. The girls were okay looking, though they looked much better a few years later, as their fame crashed and they had to do something to try to re-gain attention.
I don't remember I was just 6. But, I remember my sister and all her friends thinking Ace of Base was the tits. New Kids on the Block too. My brother always laced my boots to Pearl Jam, Alice n Chains and Soundgarden. That was when music was good.
I'll give you that - that's when music was pretty damn good. But Ace of Base was not in the "good" category. And sadly, you still apparently remember them as being the tits. I also vaguely remember Clear Pepsi. Forgot about that. It was definitely interesting, but not my thing.
You take them being the tits way too literally. They were the tits in the same way that Britney Spears and the Spice Girls were the tits. Popular to national audience. Same with Lady Gaga. Definitely not my style, but smothering the airwaves for sure.
I'm not going to bother looking it up, but I'm willing to bet Britney, Spice Girls, and Lady Gaga have all sold more records and made more money that Ace of Base. When someone tells me something was "the tits", it's as good as it gets. Ace of Base were 1-2 hit wonders (one song hit #1, and a second did well). Other than that, they were not the tits. But I still get the era you're talking about. Boyz II Men, All-4-One, Coolio, Toni Braxton, Lisa Loeb, Mariah Carey, Nate Dogg/Warren G, Bryan Adams.... All those people were big in the early/mid-90's.
Fuck man, you caught me dead in my tracks. I'm a huge Ace of Base fan!!! Thanks for exposing me, dude!
