Neither Conley or Rubio is a career backup... I say Portland comes in and takes Conley off Wallace's hands for cheap
Fuck Memphis. They put 9 million back on our cap out of spite. Let both of them cause team chemistry issues.
If they take Rubio - there will be someone that will take Conley off their hands. It would be stupid if we are not in the running - if KP likes him and he is available for parts Portland is willing to let go. How about Conley for Sergio - they can have the Spanish points fighting to feed Marc Gasol. Make it so.
While I hated it at first since Conley wasn't playing well, if it really took him to get Greg playing his best then just freaking do it. He's turned into a good young player anyways so if all else he's a good asset. If they still want Travis, hell, kill two birds with one stone.
Would KP be comfortable entering the season with Blake, Conley and Bayless all vying for minutes? We might need to consolidate Blake and/or Bayless unless we're comfortable with Conley or Bayless riding serious pine.
Dude, Conley would not be a backup here. He is much better than Blake. The numbers don't indicate that because of the coaching change but Conley really started thriving in the 2nd half of the season. It isn't even a question of who would be the starting PG.
Ok, how about this? Sergio, Outlaw and #32 for Conley and 3 million each season for the nexat three seasons to pay PA back for he Miles Situation. Fuck them. How could any of you want to give them any talent?
Eh ... and cash, and Bayless. That's the minimum I see them taking with the way Conley improved his game in the second half of the season -- the guy is going to end up being a pretty damn good point guard. Blake/Conley/(Beaubois, Collison, et al.) Roy/Rudy Nic/Martell LMA/?/Freeland Greg/Pryzbilla Looks pretty OK to me.
Because some of us would like to see the roster improved and solidified. I sure hope KP doesn't let emotional thinking cloud his ability to consider deals.
It's possible but it's hard to say because it was only half a season and they are in a position of weakness. They have the #2 pick and it's clear that only a PG (Rubio) would be the guy to take unless they were to trade the pick. I would do Bayless and Outlaw for Mike Conley. I would probably even throw in a 2nd rounder. Bayless has better physical tools but Conley is a true point with a pretty damn good jump shot these days. His arrival would ressurect Greg Oden more than any other instance.
I want the Blazers to be as good as possible. I would certainly hope that the Blazers aren't carrying some silly grudge against a team and passing up the best possible deals because of it. Ed O.
I disagree. With hard work and perseverance Conley could eventually be a reliable backup for several teams, although not ours of course. Rubio is a poor man's Sergio Rodriguez.
How are they in a position of weakness? If they draft Rubio their phone is going to be ringing off the hook from GMs wanting to make a play for Mike Conley -- it's not as though we're Mumphis' only trading partner. As for why I kind of like Conley, it's his ability to get into the lane and his great first step, his improving jump shot is just gravy.
