I wouldn't come out this year if I didn't have to. One of these idiots should have come out last year. Anthony Bennett was the overall #1 pick
Wiggins being projected as a Paul Pierce type. Parker as a Carmelo Anthony, but with some defensive ability. Seems kind of low in the projection category, but that's what the buzz is at this point.
I would honestly be thrilled to get a young Paul Pierce. Dude has actually had a pretty damn solid career. He won a ring, he's made a number of All-Star games, and he's still putting up numbers after all these years. He's not a LeBron, but he's a guy that any team would love to have. I think that's a realistic and actually beneficial goal for a player. Carmelo on the other hand....... Having a Melo wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't such a tool. If Parker was Melo without the ego problems, he would be worth having around. Melo, for all his faults, is damn near unstoppable on offense.
Ford said that Embiid has scouts drooling. Saying that he may not dominate this year due to lack of experience but he has a great feel for the game and good footwork. "A little bit like Hakeem in regards to his potential"
Re: OT: anybody else watching Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins on ESPN right now? Nope. I don't even have Cable. Don't want to support cable or ESPN. I don't miss any of the games because when I stop watching ESPN I only care about what I want to care about. I THOUGHT I cared about all that fluff, but when I stopped watching I really focused on what I really enjoyed, which ended up being Blazers and Baseball. I can find all my own stats with research, it takes 20 seconds to find anything. However, if people want to watch ESPN and are truly immersed in a lot of sports, then great for them. I just noticed that when I stopped with ESPN, I truly found out what I loved.
Marcus Smart is looking really good for coming back to college for another year. I'd like to see him on the Bucks next year, they could really use a guy like him.
Mamadou Ndiaye: 7'5" | 310 lbs | 8'1" wingspan http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Iqu6cYGCE The thing that makes him really appealing is he moves side-to-side very well for his size. But does he have a feel for the game?
Wow even running down the court he looks better than any other guy that tall I've seen. He looks more athletic than Hibbert for sure. As all I've ever seen of him was that video.. I have no idea if he has a feel for the game, but considering he's at UC Davis, I doubt it.
I caught a bit of the New Mexico State game on the way back, and saw a dude who was like 7'4 and beefy. Slow as molasses sliding uphill in January, but unstoppable in the paint. I'll look him up.
Factoring in his lack of experience and how polished he looks, I'd consider Embiid over Wiggins. IMO, he is the best C prospect since Oden. 7'0" | 240 lbs | 7'5" wingspan | 19 y/o http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lgI-8np7w
I only saw highlights of his game v Kansas. Reminded me a lot of Beas his freshman year. Looked up their stats: JP: 22pts, 9rebs, 2asts, 56% fg, 65% 3pt (!!), 68% FT, 2blk, 1stl in 28 mpg MB: 26pts, 12rebs, 1ast, 53% fg, 38% 3pt, 77% FT, 2blk, 1stl in 32mpg You don't think so? Sorta that Melo esque bully ball down low with a smooth J. There was some chatter about Beas going #1 over Rose too.
Beasley was amazing in college because he was a PF that could rebound and score at will. A college version of Z-Bo. Once, he got to the league his style of play didn't adjust to the size and speed of the game and he was forced to transform his game into being a wing player. That failed miserably. He's also a knucklehead with horrible character. Parker is a natural wing player all the way through who can thrive with the rock in his hands and is a stand up guy. A Duke guy. Coach K doesn't recruit Beasley type guys.
I'm not sure Andrew Wiggins is a better NBA prospect than Harrison Barnes was at this point. Hardly worth tanking a draft for, IMO. Kevin Durant and Greg Oden, hell, even Blake Griffin and John Wall, were all much superior players in college.
