I think CC himself would tell you, "I don't care if I strike out 10-12 batters, I should not be giving up 5 runs on 8 hits in less then 6 innings & consistently putting my team in a hole".

Sorry but there are no bright spots in his performance last night.

Well, we all know CC is now grossly overpaid and we can agree the Yanks shouldn't have extended his contract.....

I am still hopeful he can be an effective pitcher in the rotation and the Yanks obviously are going to continue to put him out there unless he absolutely sucks and has trouble getting past the 4th or 5th innings without getting bombarded - imo.

No doubt, he can't/ shouldn't be expected to be ace-type but just for current perspective:
    Last night-
    Norris 5.2 IP, 6H, 2 BB, 2HR, 5K, 3 ER
    CC. 5.2 IP, 8H, 0 BB, 0 HR, 8K, 4 ER

lol, The Jays consider Norris to be one of their better young pitchers..and he just might turn into an excellent pitcher.

One of the Jays' hits/runs came on a Reyes' routine ground ball to 2b area against the shift....why the Yanks were using such an exaggerated shift vs Reyes is another matter.

I WAS somewhat pleasantly surprised with CC's first outing, also against a pretty good hitting team.

I'm not writing him off ..... yet!
    That's all I can say.

    Are we done here?

Why you elect to bring up what THERE pitcher did to make CC look better is ridiculous since no one cares & are only interested in what OUR pitcher did.

    NOW, we're done. I hope.

I'm hoping two things here, #1 that the change of scenery helps this kid Eovaldi & he surprises the hell out of us. And #2 that our offense comes alive.

    GO YANKEES!

Agree on Eovaldi. Yanks must've saw something in him (trade) with hopes of bringing him "around" and working on his other stuff.
Does have a good live arm, needs to work on off speed pitch location.

If CC actually fielded his position his final numbers look drastically different. On one hand, dominant, on the other, poor out of the stretch. The offense had chances to bail him out and faltered on one and Girardi made a bonehead move (pinch hitting Drew for Petit with the tying run on) on the other.

Can CC eliminate those mistakes and that one bad inning? If he can he becomes the second coming of Mussina in his final year. If he doesn't, he's the 4th starter and maybe 5th if Nova can make a successful return.

Let's hope Eovaldi can handle the big stage tonight. I have hopes for this kid. He looked good this spring.
