WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

I never had an issue with Roy until he started whining in the media about getting an extra year on his contract. He kept saying he wanted to get the extra year so that he could go and recruit other players to Portland, and I thought that was pretty self-serving since he should be recruiting etc...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

This is quite a spin. The reality is that most players the Blazers have tried to sign in free agency while Lillard has been here have flatly said no thanks, or 'Noooooo sir' as Kevin Durant's brother recently commented. Pau Gasol was a glue factory candidate who would have signed anywhere, and...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

I also enjoyed the Lillard-less Blazers, especially that 4-game win streak before they shut everyone down. It was the first time in quite awhile that the Blazers looked hungry. It was also interesting to watch C.J. become a new man with the Pels. He seemed to be motivated beyond what I had seen...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

Lillard will never win a championship in Portland as long as he is on a max contract...that you can book. Interesting that you brought up Melo, the classic example of a guy taking all of his team's free agent money and then leaving, never having led a contender. That will be Lillard's legacy as...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

Yes, every year they pay Lillard the max is putting off contention for at least that long. Meanwhile, how many first-round draft picks have been traded away for player rentals? One of the primary roads to a championship team has been eliminated for the Blazers in the name of winning immediately...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

I agree that Olshey was a horrible GM, but the worst mistake he ever made was making Lillard out to be a superstar and paying him as such when Dame didn't have the chops to lead a team to the championship. Olshey had been doing a great job up until he lost LMA to free agency, and then he just...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

Shouldn't the person arguing to give Lillard everyone else's lunch have the burden to justify that? I mean, he played in 29 games last season while the team, which has been steadily declining for several years, sank into the lottery. What about that says, "Pay that man as much as we possibly...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

It's really simple math: in a salary cap/ luxury tax league, if you pay one player all the money, and especially if that one player is not a dominant player day in and day out, you won't win because you didn't have enough money to get other good players to pick up his slack. Dame is a good...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

You don't really have to make assumptions when you have a decade of data to draw from. Paying Lillard a large percentage of the team's salary does not translate into playoff victory. Some people are sick of it, and some people just want to keep Lillard at any cost. If a critical mass of fans...

WOJ: Dame wants the super max extension

What a terrible decision, if true. Did Cronin really do all of those trades and shed all of that salary just so he could pay the extra to Lillard? The Blazers will never be a contender with Lillard eating that much of the cap, and he will never be tradeable after he signs that deal. It's too bad...

If you count Bledsoe's entire salary to take back Durant, that puts the Blazers far beyond the luxury tax, and most likely for the duration of Durant's contract. We thought we had salary cap hell before.

I thought Bledsoe only counted for his guaranteed amount? I don't know why the Nets would want him anyway. Same with Hart- seems like all we can offer are expiring deals for their star player. Feels like we are spending a lot of time talking about something that has no chance of happening.

If they are both healthy is a big if for guys that have been injured for a large part of the season recently. Also, I can't tell if you are factoring in all of the players Portland would have to send to acquire Durant, especially if they aren't trading Lillard. It seems like you still have them...

I think it's legitimate to point out that ring chasers might come to Portland on cheap contracts. On the other hand, I can't remember that ever happening in Portland, even when the Blazers were contenders. I do turn down Durant wanting to team up with Dame. I think that would be a disaster for...

People keep saying that, as they said it when Paul was alive, and they ignore the fact that ownership - the people whose money it is- clearly care how much of it is spent. Now that the team is probably being prepped for sale, I think they probably REALLY care. In any case, this argument ignores...
