#10 PICK tank watch - the critical games on last day of reg season

Sorry if I haven't seen it in the draft thread, but can you break down Zeller v. Olynyk in your eyes? It seems that Zeller might be available at 10 while Olynyk is slotted at 10-15---obviously workouts will have something to say, but it seemed (before I left, at least) that Zeller was the superior player (maybe even a Top 3 pick?) who was having the kitchen sink thrown at him on defense while Olynyk was playing over his head in the WCC. I know what you've written about Olynyk, but what do you see as the differentiations b/w the two, and who would you take if both are on the board at 10?

It's way too early to predict who will go where. Damian Lillard wasn't even projected in the top 10 at this point last season.

I agree somewhat, but about 14 of the other top 15 were slotted to go in the top 15. Maybe Ross was taken a bit earlier than expected, but he was considered a lotto pick. Dame's the outlier, and that's just b/c he hadn't been seen during the season and then lit up workouts. You might see McCollum have a similar rise from 12-15 or so up to the top 6 if he dominates workouts and shows he can play PG. But I don't think that the Top 10 or 15 players will change a ton in the next 2 months.

I don't think Waiters started out in the top five either though. Things happen, guys move around, and someone like Thomas Robinson drops from #2 to #5 or whatever. I suspect that 10 is a good place to be. Who knows, maybe we'll sneak into the top three, but even if we don't, I think we'll either use it as a trade bait or we'll grab the BPA.

I would love to see the mock from this week last year and how it needed up. Too lazy to look though.

Olynyk has a much more versatile offensive repertoire. I like Zeller a lot last year, but its like he's regressed. If you want to know why I like Olynyk so much more than Zeller you can find it in my Olynyk shrine a couple threads up (or down depending on how pithy the dunderheads are around here).

The problem I have with Olynyk is that I don't see how he fills a need for us, or are you simply saying BPA?

couldn't find one from Apr 18, but Ford's from April 30 had Lillard at #8

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft2012/story?id=7870595&_slug_=nba-mock-draft-version-4

Waiters was the big mover up (Ford had him at #18, but said he'd be a lotto pick on Draft Night) and PJ3 was the big mover down.

Leonard was at 19.

EDIT: Almost makes you wonder, doesn't it, that since KP picked Oden over Durant's workout that we seem to go after guys who kill it in workouts and/or move way up the board after the season's ended? And stay away from talent that have dropped (w/exception of Nic, who was probably a smokescreen by us anyway). I mean, we've picked guys like Dante and Pendergraph over the dropping Blair, Smith over the dropping Faried, Lillard (though we needed him anyway) over a more established prospect like Barnes or Drummond, Leonard, Babbitt and Elliot over guys like Bledsoe/Anderson/Pondexter.

BPA. Filling needs is a silly look at the draft unless you have two guys you feel will be equally good. In that case you fill a need.

What's your mock 10 at this point?

I'll give you that tomorrow. I'm tired. My mock 10 as in who I think will be the 10 best players in this draft 5 years down the road, or how I think the draft will go?

All the white guys!

You know what a mock is. Who do you think the top ten in the draft currently are?

Fuck mocks that just pick the best players....... good mocks go off of what the teams needs are who own the pick.

If we keep the pick I hope Olshey doesn't draft for need like he did with leonard

^ Learn the game....... then mock!
