Derrick Rose makes any coach look like a genius. I don't think Thibs wins more than 41 with last year's roster and the injuries...

You're wasting your time trying to convince some people that talent is the main factor. I thinks Thibs is a good coach and I totally agree with your assessment.

Give Nate Durant and we've probably already gone to the conference finals.

Now you're just talking out of your ass . . . how in the world could we have gotten Durant? You and your pie in the sky thinking . . .

Haha... you're not the first person to call me crazy! Just think of it as a hypothetical, not something that could have actually happened

Give Nate Durant and he would have him dribbling around playing 1-on-1. His teammates would stand there watching, waiting for him to do everything. On Durant's cold nights, we'd be saying, he sure has gone downhill from last year. Nate just can't make a whole team work. He makes one hero work, but that leader will have his off-nights, and then, Nate is lost.

That's a great story.

I could write a long drawn out story about all the reasons we would win an NBA championship this year with Durant.

Neither would mean much since we've never seen Nate coach a player as good at Durant and we probably never will.

I don't think we "excuse" anything. Part of the reason the fanbase is so juiced all the time is because we're desperate for any sort of success.

That's putting it nicely. Most are pure pussies.

The results are in!

I just finished slaving over my latest spreadsheet!

Now for the quiz question. Who is the 23rd-greatest coach in NBA history, according to my list?

You'll never guess!

That's right, who, once Nate has finished his 8 years with this team, are the longest-lasting coaches with the same team, as of 2 years from now, assuming no one passes Nate?

You'll never guess who is 23rd!

After someone gets it right, I'll reward him with the award, a kick in the ass, so bend over and smile when you guess! You will also get to see my list posted right here in this thread!

Alright, I'm ready to hear all the guesses!

Who is the 23rd-greatest coach in NBA history, rated by how long they lasted with one team, once Nate has finished his 8 years with this team, as of 2 years from now, assuming no one passes Nate?

I'll return in a day and tell you! Wild guesses are okay!

Edit: Maybe I should mention, my list doesn't add 2 years to any current coach except Nate! Sorry to throw you off there if you've already started your calculations!

Edit: My list includes the ABA and BAA! If not for that, the mystery coach would rank 20th all-time!

Oh, I'll bet it is PJ Carlissimo?

You lose, but you win! Everyone else wins, so they get a kick and the ass! Smart strategy there!

There's always next year...

...........

I was just telling this to Sly this morning before I flew out. I wanted to make a shirt with the Blazer's pinwheel, with a quote underneath saying "There is always next year". Seriously isn't funny anymore. Reminds me of 92-98. All first round and outs.

Last night at midnight I finished my last one and I was lonely so I looked out my window. A 6-inch purple visitor from outer space had just crashed into my tree and was peering through my curtain with his X-ray vision. I brought him in and he made a 6-pack materialize, so we got to know each other. He saw I like the NBA so he asked to read my posts. I showed him my new list and he almost spit up through his horn, "Dude!! You have the 23rd-greatest coach in NBA history and you're complaining??"

So I give in to greater wisdom. We shouldn't try a new coach. If you give a coach 8 years, he must belong among Pat Riley, Dick Motta, Tom Heinsohn, and all those champion coaches. If a visitor from outer space saw that list, unsoiled by suffering through the seasons, he would assume Nate McMillan must be a great coach to have earned 8 years.

You lose, but you win! Everyone else wins, so they get a kick and the ass! Smart strategy there!

Ha ha, I said "and" not "in." My 6-inch friend thinks that's funny.

GET..BACK..TO PLUTO !!! RIGHT NOW !!!

He won't leave.

out of the first round twice since Jordan shrugged. :dunno: :(

New best-seller, "Jordan Shrugged." It's about the innate virtue of selfishness in the pursuit of winning and there's a mysterious, allegorical figure who organizes a walk-out protest when he perceives that the system is broken. This leads to the generational rallying cry, "Who is Isiah Thomas?" and the meme "going Thomas."

It's a few thousand pages long and the end is a stirring hundred page reading of basketball box scores.

Funny, I was pretty much imagining the same thing.

I would buy the T shirt that said "Rip City" in front
( complete with Anthem/Ayn Rand faux cover design) and "Jordan Shrugged" on the back. Maybe "Nuff Said" in tiny type below it.

Meh, it's sports. We've had a tough stretch and our five year rebuilding process didn't work out due to the fragility of our players. The only thing to do is to stop feeling sorry for ourselves, pick ourselves up and hope for better things next year.
