Last night's (Sunday, June 27) forecast for today (Monday) for Portland is 118. Brrr, it's cold in my house. You guys with no air conditioning don't know how good you've got it.

Its a dry heat!
Try New Orleans/Louisville in August.
90 degree day with high humidity is worse than what we are experiencing.

...this is true, I lived in Miami for a year and 95 degrees with 95% humidity is the worst weather I've experienced -- not even the ocean or pools felt refreshing. Right now in Central Oregon (like those in the valley) it was 100-105 by noon today but dry and not nearly as miserable as the heat in Miami.

I used to run 10k's in Louisville annually in August, it started at 6am. Even after showering go outside for 5 minutes and you need to once again.

It's a dry heat. You know - like in an oven.

Power went out an hour ago. The air conditioner got us through the weekend but the repair crew just drove up the hill so that’s a good sign. The wind is strong today at times. It blew my window fan and screen in my loft onto my bed

Mystic beings, gods, spaghetti monsters, aliens, or whomever is running this silly experiment called Earth in the vast universe, please give us the strength to never complain about it being “too hot” when the temperature reaches 90F.

I pledge to do better in this simulation called life.

You have to sleep in the loft? What's wrong with your looks that your wife keeps you away from the public so they don't have to see you?

I keep myself away from public and if anyone wants to watch me sleep...my wife would just wonder why the fuck they'd want to do that? Unlike you Lanny I live in a small cabin with a split loft upstairs for sleeping....you'd never be able to get up there in your condition..

I lived in St. Louis and in the summer temperatures were typically above 100, 105 was not uncommon at all. Old people died, obviously not me because here I am typing furiously.
In Vietnam in the summer temperatures were worse than St. Louis in the summer but I was 20 years old and kind of enjoyed it.

I can attest to this having lived in tropical climate countries. Humidity is what makes the heat feels suffocating.
I've been in hot hot Vietnam , Atlanta and St. Louis and I found it no worse than summer in Phoenix or Death Valley and now Portland, Oregon.

Being in Nam at your age now is not like being there when your were 20 Lanny....I spent 20 years in the sub tropics....it will eventually chew you up and spit you out

Hey, I was 20 and could get a whopping boner just walking down the sidewalk past a pretty girl. Yeah, those were far far different days.

45 people died in the Portland area from the heat

damn

Every time I think about excessive weather patterns and the precious lives lost I get angry at those that would hinder progress toward mitigating the bad that comes of global warming.

It hit 130 in Death Valley and it hit 117 in Vegas. Very large forest fires are burning everywhere.
This is the end my friend.
