Fourteen Yankees MiLB Players Become Free Agents

IMO, of the 14, the biggest names on the list are Zolio Almonte and Scott Sizemore

It is unlikely the Yankees would resign either...

I don't think there are too many other names on that list of note... But I'll rely on the experience of my elders here... with that, thoughts?

I'd say the article is pretty on the money or target.

Jeremy Bleich, has been consistently inconsistent. One never knows what to expect out of him, because his Minor League years have been like a roller coaster, the model of inconsistency. The same goes for Pat Venditte.

I would bring up Francisco Rondon or tender him a short leash offer. He still has alot to prove, yet has had some success in Minor Lg's. tho' he too has been inconsistent in his entire career, tho' he's just beginning to seem to gain ground, or win, while lowering his ERA. Tho' Minors have been a struggle for Rondon as well. Jury's kinda' out on Rondon, tho' I'd say sign him to a short leash, and give him a chance in the Bronx, it won't hurt, as long as Cash-hole doesn't offer him a open check book, like Brian's been known to.

Nik Turley like all the other 13 players who become FA's, have all shown signs of brilliance, yet all have been inconsistent, while also losing games in horrible fashion. Up and Down, seems to be the Moniker for these 14 players, mostly.

Scott Sizemore, has also been more inconsistent or only consistent in his inconsistency. I don't like the stats of Sizemore's career. Too low of a Fielding Pctg, and Batting Avg, for a MLB player, I'd DFA Sizemore....

The others, I wouldn't even bother with, let 'em go, bring in fresh meat prospects....!

My 2 cents which won't even buy you a tootsie roll. let along a stick of bazooka Bubble Gum....

Pat Venditte/Relief P <---- could deserve a look at the big level...
He's the guy who can pitch LH and RH..more than a freak show, he could be a unique asset.
K/9, K/BB ratios have been outstanding throughout minor league career.
Been promoted to AAA.
He's struggled a bit with his control at AAA but still has good numbers.

i change my mind. Does anyone know when this event happened? Seems odd, as I saw a MLB Documentary this summer, where several old Negro League Pitchers, some Mexican Lg. Pitchers, and a few old relic MLB Pitchers, were talking about throwing from both sides. I could relate.

The point is learning or acknowledging ambidextrous activity, is norm to many, who never tried it?

I could never pitch LH'd at a competitive level tho'.....after blowing out the RH rotator cuff 3 times, I turned to coaching Little League. There I often used a LH Catchers glove at times, a 1st baseman's southpaw glove to, even an OF southpaw glove, none were a problem. But again not on a competitive level. My point is; after shredding the RH cuff 3 times, I wound up tearing the LH cuff, not once but twice, having fun goofing around with my LL Team.


I only got that LL Team because I wanted enough kids/people to play ball with.

...I broke my right hand a few years back and was forced to use my left hand. It's funny how we take our dominant hand/arm for granted. If you really want to see how much we depend on them, just for shits and giggles, try signing your name with you other hand...try shaving with your other hand, try brushing your teeth with your other hand...and if you're really daring, try wiping yourself with your other hand...it ain't pretty.

Yep - AND he's been very effective throughout his minor league career - still "only" 29 yrs old.
No reason why he can't fitted for at least middle relief duty.

He has a good curveball from the right side. Nice.
Not sure about the velocity of his fasball, but if it's 90-ish, he can be very useful.

Jeez, he's and RH and LH middle reliever...maybe even a 7th inn guy.

From what I've seen, heard and read - including your contribution - no reason why this tough dedicated competitor shouldn't get an opportunity to pitch (preferably) with the Yankees at the ML level.
It's not as if he hasn't been "good" in his minor league career. My gosh - wtf?

I mean...just look at some of the absolute bums/mediocrities who have logged relief innings for the Yanks in the past 1-3 years.

and its not much difference is it, catching with either hand...? Yet throwing is another thing in itself. As other things can also reveal which hand/arm is the dominant one. Writing like you said, and other things also mentioned.

When I was a young cook, I would toss eggs or omelets in several egg pans from both hands at the same time, with no prob. Yet throwing a ball lefty when one's a righty is talent....Venditte's video blows my mind, and is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in Baseball.
