People forget how incredibly dominant Garnett was, and it was wasted on some extremely shitty Wolves teams. If you plug Garnett into Duncan's spot on those Spurs teams, he wins just as many championships as Duncan did.

Kg wasted his prime carrying that shit team to the playoffs every year.

It makes me wonder. People say that there are players that are made better because of Pop's system. Why does that not apply to Duncan? They list players that have their best years under Pop and then they go someplace else and look very average. How come nobody ever said that about Duncan?

Yep its like the opposite of blazers where people like crawchuck and mo chuck and shawn kemp are decent to incredible until they come to portland

Amazing how worked up some people get over this stuff.

My five: Offense/Defense combo--Magic, Michael, Pippen, Duncan, Hakeem.

If I divided up the rest into 4 more teams:
Team Toughness--Isiah, Kobe, Bird, KG, and Wilt (only because I'm a dollar short for Russell)
Team Smoooooth--Big O, Clyde, KD, Dirk, Kareem. Effortless play all around.
Team Physicality--Stockton (dirty MF), Wade, Lebron, Malone, Shaq. That front line would pound you.
Team Leftovers--Frazier, West, Dr J, Chuck, Russell. That actually turns out an interesting group...

Here's another look--which $15 5 gets you the most rings? Magic/Wade/Pippen/Duncan/Russell have 29 championships between them. Beat that!

I think people realize that while Pop certainly helped make Duncan, Duncan helped make Pop as well. Can't say that about Danny Green and Patty Mills.

I don't want a guy on my team that gets down on all fours and barks like a dog. If Jordan did it he would be off my team.

KG had skill and physical ability that might have been unmatched ever. Even more than Sheed. He is also a fucking idiot, which is why he isn't even mentioned as one of the greatest players. Not really debatable.
Adidas: "Hey, KG, if you guys win it all, wait for somebody to shove a microphone in your face, pretend to be all introspective, and then yell our new slogan, 'IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!' and we'll give you another pile of money. Make it look dramatic, yet spontaneous!"

KG: "ANYTHING'S POSSIBLE!"

Kevin Garnett is one of the more intelligent players to play the game.
Not even if you graded on a curve. Ruben Patterson used to try to help Kevin Garnett do his spelling homework, but gave up because Garnett couldn't spell "My agent tol' me to keep my mouf shut..."

My Team:
PG: Magic
SG: Drexler
SF: Bird
PF: Duncan
C: Olajuwon

Thinking outside the box:
PG: Magic
SG: Jordan
SF: Drexler
PF: Durant
C: Olajuwon

Again, I don't understand taking any $6 SG/SF combo over Jordan/Pippen. Drexler/Bird? That's a defensive liability.

Well, if you wanna take guys out of position, then I'll go Pippen, Jordan, Lebron, Duncan, Olajuwon, and nobody will ever score on me. PG is probably the weakest position on the list defensively. If I can replace Magic with Lebron--ballgame.

I dont see how you take anyone over jordan. I mean im getting pretty pissed off about the lack of respect I this thread. /greenfont

The idea that either of you would take Lebron/Wade over Jordan/Pippen (Both $6 combos) is unfathomable to me.

I would rather have Lebron then Jordan and Wade if were considering him in his prime injury free id take over Pippen.

Absolute prime Wade really wasn't too different from MJ in production, plus my team is full of guys who are okay with seeing their teammates do well. No super egos like Jordan/Kobe.

John Stockton $2
Michael Jordan $5
Lebron James $5
Dirk Nowitzki $2
Hakeem Olajuwon $1 (easy choice!)

Magic 5
West 3
James 5
Garnett 1
Hakeem 1

LOL @ having Duncan at $3 while Chuck and and the Mailman are more. Neither won jack shit.

Magic
Jordan
Pippen
Duncan
Hakeem

Come at me bro

For me, it came down to who is the better combo between MJ/Pippen and Wade/Lebron. Since I will not need to lean on MJ as much for scoring since I have four other hall of famers to surround him, I am going with Lebron/Wade for defensive purposes. I then take Robertson, KG, and Wilt. We would get 50 points a game on fast breaks alone and would be holding teams in the 80's.

Only one player can have the ball so it's critical to have players who play well off the ball. Dirk provides the court spacing at the PF spot to make this groups offense unstoppable. As great as Duncan and Malone are the defense can force them to shoot long jumpers when doubling Jordan. Sure those two would be fine shooting open jumpers but Dirk, Bird, Stockton would be elite.

Stockton $2
Jordan $5
Bird $4
Dirk $2
Akeem $1

Still got a buck left to bring KG off the bench.

Magic
Clyde
Bird
Garnett
Wilt

I win.

Fraizer - 1
Jordan - 5
Pippen - 1
Duncan - 3
Russel - 4

It's hard for me to pick between KG or Duncan.
Before KG's knee injury in Boston he was able to honestly guard all 5 positions.
There are very few players in NBA history while being listed at 6"11 that were as versatile as KG.

BTW. if we're going for todays NBA I want a young AI at point.
His quickness would give bigger point guards of the 80's and 90's troubles.

Weird bump but fun to look at.

Made me even think about where Curry would fit, if Duncan would be higher up today than when this was made, etc. Good times.

EDIT: Or even where coaches would fit in...Red, Phil, Pop, Riley, etc.

C - Hakeem Olajuwon $1
Pf - Kevin Garnett $1
Sf - Lebron James $5
Sg - Michael Jordan $5
Pg - Jason Kidd (although he's not on the list)
Leftover: $3

Hakeem and KG can realistically guard all 5 positions and both were DPOY winners. KG can also hit midrange shots consistently while Hakeem dominates the block.

Lebron and Michael are also the best all-time defenders at their positions. Both improved their 3 point shot and will get easy buckets with Jason Kidd handling the ball. Both can also handle the ball well and make plays.

Jason Kidd, at 6'4 could guard most pgs (9 all defensive team selections) and is a pass first pg. Without the ball, he'll be able to spot up (4th all time is 3's made).

Lebron James $5
Dirk Nowitzki $2
Hakeem Olajuwon $1 (easy choice!)

Stockton great defender and shooter works perfect with Jordan dominating the ball
Jordan enough said
Pippen played perfectly with Jordan if it ain't broke don't fix it
Duncan barely gets the edge over Garnett but with Jordan as my vocal leader the big fundamental can just sit back and do his thing
Russell dude is a proven winner and arguably the best defender in NBA history gets the nod over Olajuwon

Pippen $1
Jordan $5
Kareem $5
Stockton $2
Duncan $3
