I'd say as a couple you look like a young Vincent Price dating a young Shirley McLaine
I can totally see the Shirley MacLaine thing. 100%. And I have the schnoz of Price, but not the angular good looks.

Some black shoepolish hair product and a pencil moustache and you could pull it off

It is warmer. Plus, I'm in Tallahassee now, which is surprisingly liberal. The racial diversity is also nice. Regardless, when my girlfriend is done with school, we are probably going to move back west together. She was born and raised in Tallahassee, and she has always dreamed of spreading her wings and heading west. I have no problem making that move with her.
It is pretty weird here. I live in very liberal Orlando, but you can drive 20 minutes outside the city and just know there is some weird shit going on out in the swamps. That could be said about a lot of places across the country though.

Yep, there's some real weird shit in Zig Zag Oregon, about half way to Mount Hood. Well, look at the name.

I've heard this about Tennessee. Tennessee and Florida apparently got sneaky good scenery?

Just about every state has good scenery - but if one has to live in the south - my votes would go to South Carolina or Kentucky. Both has some amazing areas.

I'd pick the Portland area or if you've got a few bucks then I'd think about the San Francisco area in which case you need to confer with crandc. If you choose the Portland area I'd think about Lake Oswego with it's low low crime rate and Liberal politics.
Another consideration would be the Seattle area. I use to live in Renton which is just okay but I'd recommend either Bellevue or Kirland, Sammish, Redmond or Factoria.

The Bay Area is expensive... like, really really expensive. We contemplated moving there and rented a 1,500 sq/ft house in Marin for a year in 2012. While we loved the people there - the geography just sucks and the cost of living is freaking high - if we were to buy that little house we rented in 2013 - it would have been $1.5 million, probably higher today...

If you want nice weather - I would certainly look at the less populated areas of California - specifically, the San Diego county area or the San Luis Obispo area (more affordable). Both have great weather, great scenery and lots of stuff to do.
