So what happens after Siddy plays 1 more game…..do we waive him? Send him to the review?

Nothing happens automatically. He stays on a 2-way contract, but he's ineligible to suit up for the Blazers again this season -> unless his contract status changes.

Blazers can choose to sign him to a real NBA contract (which everyone expects them to do). I would anticipate a 3-yr minimum contract. To sign him to a real NBA contract, Portland needs to create a roster spot... This means cutting/waiving one of Rupert/Thybulle/Murray.

I would guess that Rupert is the one that is cut. Once Rupert makes it through waivers, Portland can offer Rupert a 2-way contract for the rest of the season.

I'm guessing Blazers just keep Love as inactive the rest of the season.

I don't think Murray will be waived because Portland already picked up his 5.3M option for next season. They won't want that as dead salary all next season

it's between Thybulle and Rupert. I have no clue what Cronin will do in that case. I have a hard time seeing the Blazers re-signing Thybulle this summer so he may be the prime candidate for a ticket out of town

I suppose it's possible the Blazrs could waive both of them and then re-sign Cissoko and Love. But Portland is going into next season with Dame-Jrue-Scoot-Wesley, and I do not want 1/3 of the roster assigned to PG's/tweeners 6'3 & under. I'm assuming the Blazer will keep Wesley over Love. Maybe they'll go the other direction. Hope not

I just don't see it with Sidy.

If choosing to cut Thybulle or Rupert, I feel like it is a no brainer to cut Thybulle. I've never understand why people loved him and wanted to keep him so badly.

Thybulle seems like the obvious first cut given his fragility, but as a redditor pointed out--if this year's team is going to make the play-in and hope to try to compete in the playoffs, who between he and Rupert is most likely to actually help you win a game in the 2026 postseason? Have we seen anything out of Rupert in his 2.5 years here to suggest that he'll ever be the tipping point in any significant game the Blazers ever play?

No but I do think Rupert could eventually be something. In fact, I like him more than Sidy.

If I had to choose who to sign to a real contract, I like Love more. I think he has a real shot at being in someone's rotation full time. For his cost, I hope it is us.

Thybulle is a smarter player than Sidy or Ryan.
Sidy can guard 4's and has more junk yard dog than Ryan or Thybulle.
Ryan has the most ceiling with his game than the other two if he could only put it together.

Sidy - Size, thickness, relentless, unfazed (flat shooting arc, fouls easily, reckless)
Ryan - Arm length, defense, length, shooting stroke (timid, underdeveloped handle, thin frame)
Thybulle - Smarts, defense, length, pass disruptor (availability, inconsistent shooting, contract timing)

also Sidy, super cheap
Rayan, cheap
Matisse, not so cheap

If I had to predict....

Caleb stays on his 2-way unless Blake gets hurt again. If that happens, you waive Blake and convert Caleb.

Think Sidy gets converted and Rupert is waived.

Rupert is an ok shooter and a handsy defender, but fouls a decent bit since he's at a quickness or strength disadvantage (or both) in most matchups.

Thybulle is at least a positive player when he's on the floor and we are trying to win this year.

Not a fan of Javonte. He should finish the season playing G league ball.
He won't play outside of garbage time but he's got enough games left to do that for the rest of the season in an emergency. We're not lacking guards now.

To me it comes down to who holds more value in a trade, none of the players besides Thybulle will get significant minutes if team is healthy. I’d sign Love just so I could potentially include him in a trade. Hes proven he’s an NBA caliber player. Sidy has value as a 12-15th roster spot guy. Love the effort he plays with but if you’re counting on him as key rotational piece your team isn’t deep. That’s not meant as slight on him

Good ass essments.

be careful using words like size, thickness, length, and stroke.

Isn't it 2 more games. I thought Thursdays game was the last he was eligible. Then 3 games after that for Love.

Not enough Blazer fans are giving Sidy his flowers. He's been a rock and with his size, bb IQ, ball handling ability, and improving shot, I think he's a real asset to the team.
