Who do you think/hope to see on our roster this summer?

The 2010 NBA Summer League will be in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 9th-18th, 2010. The Summer League is a pro basketball league run by the NBA just following the NBA Draft. Teams consist of players who have been in the NBA for 3 years or fewer as well as newly drafted talent. It gives Rookies a chance to practice against other players that are new to the NBA. Games are held throughout the ten days at Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the UNLV Campus.

What: A SMWW Basketball Career Conference in Sports at the NBA Summer League.
Gain valuable insight into a variety of careers from those working at the highest level in basketball! This day long career conference offers unique panel discussions and question-answer periods designed to start or advance your career on the business of basketball. The day will be split up into diverse speaker panels; including sports business, athlete representation, scouting, digital video editing, and sports career strategies.

When: Friday, July 16th, 2010 at 7pm for Welcome Reception and Saturday, July 17th, 2010 from 9am-3pm followed by the NBA Summer games till 9pm.

Where: Conference sessions are in the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.

Who: Anyone 18 years or older. This conference is ideal to anyone interested in working or currently working in professional sports, but particularly the NBA and professional basketball. Attendees currently employed by a team or registered NBAPA agents are invited at a discount due to the fact they might want to skip some panels.

Tickets to Summer League games: Tickets will be included in your conference fee for all games on Saturday, July 17th, 2010. An all day pass includes games in both the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavillion. Games start at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. So two games are played at the same time. Your All Day Pass will get you into all the games so you could technically watch half of one game and walk over to see the half of the other game. That would enable you to see 8 NBA teams play in one day! Additional tickets for extra days may be purchased at the event.

Why: Las Vegas, Nevada will become the center of the basketball universe July 9th thru 18th, as NBA executives, scouts, and coaches will gather to network and socialize. Additionally, the NBA Summer League attracts over 3,000 basketball visitors and more than 500 print, television, and radio media members to Vegas. If you want to advance your sports business career, you don't want to miss NBA Summer League.

It's annoying that most of the players I'd like to see are internationals and will probably be tied up with their National teams. Ideally we'd see:
PF: Freeland
SF: Claver
G: Mills
G: Koponen

BUT: Koponen will still be recovering from surgery, Claver and Freeland will probably be with their teams, and Mills might not even be retained.

That leaves: Quincy Pondexter?

Claver has no intention in ever coming here.

Is that what he told you?

The question was who would you like to see, not going to see

He has said so in several interviews. He plans on staying in Europe the next several years at least. So yea he told me. Through the fucking internet.

Here's my wish list:

Oden (just to get the feeling of competition)
Pendergraph
Cunningham
Mills
Freeland
Claver
Koponen

I'd love to see Freeland, Cunningham, Mills, and Pendergraph play... and obviously our new draft picks.

I thought I read that Pendergraph, DC and Mills all would be playing for sure.

I was thinking about going to Vegas the weekend of the 17th anyways, if I knew for sure the Blazers would play during the couple days I'd be there I'd go for sure.

Mills will be an interesting case -- I believe he'll be a RFA, so I'm not sure he'll be eligible to play unless he and the team work out a quick deal (like within 2 days of the start of the free agency period).

Of course we'll see Dante, Jeff, and our two picks (assuming that's what we're left with) and a bunch of undrafted free agents and D-league guys to round it out. Maybe Bayless will even take another crack at trying to play a true point guard role, but I suspect he's beyond that.

KP will be speaking (as GM of Blazers). Interesting.

I'll add Pondexter/Damian Jones and also Batum to the list, but only to feature Batum as a point forward and let him handle the ball as much as possible.

I know Nic will be playing for France, but I can dream!

"(N)ever" = "next several years"?

Damion James or do you mean Dominique Jones?

Dante and JP will be our only regular guys there is what I heard.

I've been to summer league for 4 days each for the last two years. I hope I get to go again, it is really fun. There is a good atmosphere and the players just walk around like everyone else does. Pretty cool to me. I fucking hate hot weather though. last year it was 105 every day I was there.

Let me get this straight........... you've been to Vegas for 4 straight summers and you are STILL A VIRGIN!!!???

2 straight summers, and why do you think I'm a virgin? I'm not a virgin. lol

Sweet. I'm there July 10-12th. :ohno:

doubt I'll make it though. we'll see.

Well he said he like Europe and saw no reason to head to the USA, because he had no desire to come here. Is that good enough? Whereas European players we have brought over in the past stated their desire to come play in the NBA, he basically had no desire. No desire to play here = Never coming here in my book.

Speaking of Claver, has anybody actually ever really looked at his stats?

Maybe it's just me but the thought of adding a 6'10" player who rebounds for shit, shoots below 45% from the floor doesn't even really shoot three pointers all that well and has big question marks about who he'll guard does nothing to excite me (or make me worry if he'll ever come over).

I'm going to bust out my magic 8 ball and say we'll trot out Dante, Jeff, Dominique Jones and Paul George ... or maybe Damion James? (in addition to all of the undrafted guys that fill out a roster)
