"1. USC has released its list of signees. No De'Anthony. Oops, they're bringing in pizza. This could be a party after all."

Let me declare an observation. We're in middle of Los Angeles and I haven't seen one USC cap. Conclusion: Thomas is going to Oregon.

.De'Anthony is here and he's wearing Oregon sweatshirt.

If it's anything but the Ducks now, the kid is just a dick

I didn't get that.... sounded like he's waiting to hear just like everyone else.

In retrospect it didn't matter but I made the comment originally cause the rumor was that mamba already committed and told the coaches. And if that was true it worried me to why kiffin would even bother waiting around

As of 8:37, who are we still missing that we are expecting?

Randall is up in the air. Anyone else? I realize SCOUT hasn't updates Thomas for Oregon, and shot us way down to the #11 class this year. We should be near the top 5, imo.

We lost out pretty big on those DL commits, imo. Especially at DT. I figured we'd get 2-3 of them, and ended with none. That hurts, but the Thomas switch was probably worth it.

He'll be playing RB? Hmm...

RB/WR, I'd bet?

At Oregon thats the tazer. All of the positions he projects at are pretty stacked. But as my dad told me growing up, there is always room for the best

if I were him and wanting an NFL career, I'd focus on being a CB because of size. But he seems pretty set on being a RB which might be why he soured on the Trojans. Maybe LaMichael's success in Kelly's offense has him believing that he can thrive there? His physical listing is not that far off from LJ's & he's even faster... dude was rivals #5 overall rated HS prospect this year

I can't believe we lost Simmons.

Simmons + Randall in this class would have made it perfect.

So................. who are we looking at for 2012?
I've read it put forward by recruiting guru types that a schools recruiting class is mostly influenced by the success they had on the field two years prior... or this class is a reflection of the Rose Bowl year. Next year's class will then be a reflection of the NC year. Way too early to target specific guys, I'm sure Kelly and Co. will be in on a lot of top talent again.

okay I'll name one... Zach Banner

Here's a name for 2013 that Oregon absolutely needs to get. Considering one of his linemen signed with the Ducks yesterday, we should have the inside edge on getting him. I watched him live against Tualatin this year during the regular season. He had a so-so game, but only because their QB hadn't learned how to pass yet. He ran for 163 yards against a good Tualatin defense in the 6A championship. Oregon State has already offered him after his sophomore season. I'm guessing he'll be the first 5-star RB from Oregon in recent memory.

"The best way I can describe Thomas Tyner is that he's a difference-maker," says Ken Potter, head coach of Portland (Ore.) Jesuit. "I've been coaching in Oregon a long time and we haven't seen very many backs like him here. He's the kind of running back that you only typically see or hear about in places like Texas, Florida or California." Spoken like a man who watched Tyner shred his powerhouse Jesuit team the week before for 378 total yards and three touchdowns. After his 50-yard wind sprint against Beaverton left him with 15 touchdowns and 1,152 yards for the season, Tyner - nursing a sore shoulder - had a couple more short-yardage carries before his night was done with a 48-3 win all but sealed by the end of the first quarter.

At a chiseled 6-0 and 200 pounds, the 16-year-old Tyner already has adequate size and strength to be a standout running back, but invariably what is garnering him national attention is the fact that the kid who's barely old enough to drive can flat-out fly.

"He has incredible speed and that's the thing you can't coach and you can't teach," Potter said. "When he breaks through a seam, he's as fast as anybody in the state."

Maybe even the country. Tyner - nicknamed "Dash" by his teammates - finished second in the 100m at the National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships in August. Last spring, he was runner-up (just ahead of four-star University of Oregon freshman wide receiver - and Jesuit alum - Keanon Lowe) in the 100m at the Oregon 6A state finals. His wind-aided 10.54 put him squarely among the fastest sprinters in the nation - as a freshman. Moreover, his unofficial 40-yard dash time (4.38) would have beaten every rookie running back at the 2010 NFL Scouting Combine except for C.J. Spiller (4.37) and Jahvid Best (4.35).

"Whether you call it game speed, this speed or that speed, he's got it," Aloha head coach Chris Casey said. "He's the fastest guy I've ever coached and that includes coaching 19 years at the college level."

That just seems so counter intuitive. You'd think these guys would be watching the Ducks in the natty and thinking, I want to play there!

the thinking goes, a high profile bowl game helps get the coach's foot in the door with the high profile kid who is inundated with schools after him. After that it's usually about relationships, opportunity, distance from home, academics, etc...

Yeah, I guess I was thinking that most kids already have their minds made up and/or are committed by the time the natty rolls around, so you use the natty as a tool for next years kids.

Randall is retaking his SATs. If he passes them he's a Duck

here is an article on Simmons. I also heard that he and Jackson were teetering on committing together to Oregon together the night before.

Teetering enough to pick up the phone, dial the coaches to commit and hang up before the call went through. it was that close to being not only a homerun in recruiting, but a Roy Hobbs homerun.

If Heimuli was leaving on his mission, I'd be really worried we didn't pick up any DT's. Even if we got Simmons or Heyward they would've redshirted anyway. Next year though, DT is a priority.

We did get Jared Ebert. I would think that at 6'5", 285, he will play DT for the next couple years. However, your last sentence still stands correct.
