Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

What other sport does he wanna play?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

uh oh he mentions #4 as Jahvid Best who he watched, hopefully he didnt mean Cal who makes him feel at home :MARIS61:

Honestly I'm not really worried about getting running backs at this point... We've got DAT for at least one or two more years, so it's no big deal.

DAT for at least two more years since he is a True Freshman :pimp:

But Running Back Depth never hurts. I would love one or two more quality Backs to Redshirt next year. Next year we are looking at DAT, Kenjon (who hasnt been the most durable) and Carson, and Ford. We could be a couple of tackles away from being down to 2 scholarship backs. I'm hoping that Tyner, and Marshall both in this class isnt too much to ask

you're right that RB talent seems great. I'm not worried about attracting more talent as guys move on as top HS kids obviously are noticing the Ducks leading the Pac 10 in rushing the past 4 years under Chip. That plus winning makes for an attractive destination.

Tyner is just a Jr. in HS. Also, DJ Foster is being recruited as a RB by some but as a WR by the Ducks

well thank you for that. That at least would further our chances I would hope of landing both Marshall and Tyner :)

Actually I meant one or two seasons beyond this one.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Tyner took a good hit last night. Might have had a concussion.

Didnt Larry Fitzgerald leave after his sophmore year?

ahhh dove deeper into your question and yes Fitzgerald went after his sophomore year and he didnt RedShirt, he was granted nfl eligibility cause he attended a 5th year of high school. The rule says you have to be at least 3 years out of your senior year of high school, but I guess it didnt specify which "senior year"

Larry Fitzgerald, a sophomore receiver for the University of Pittsburgh, has been granted eligibility for the National Football League's draft in April, a league spokesman said yesterday.

Fitzgerald, who finished second in the voting for the Heisman Trophy last season, applied for a special exemption into the draft because he attended a fifth year of high school.

The league's draft eligibility rule, which was struck down yesterday in United States District Court in Manhattan by Judge Shira A. Scheindlin, barred players from entering the draft until three years after the completion of their senior year of high school. Running back Maurice Clarett, an Ohio State sophomore, filed a lawsuit in September seeking entry into the draft.

The N.F.L. said it would appeal the ruling in the Clarett case, but any appeal would not affect Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald, 20, graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania in May 2002. He attended Valley Forge to improve his grades after transferring from a Minneapolis high school midway through his senior year.

Interesting. Well either way that's good news.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

If you had 10 somewhat realistic gets who would you put down? Very good point in this article was made... A good portion of our LB talent will be gone in 2 years or less, in Clay, Kaddu, Alonzo, and Stuckey. Would love to fill that Corps up in the next year or two.

not sure about all 10 but Ken Ekanem would be one of them. He recently said Oregon is in his top 3 and will get an official visit for sure. He's interested in studying sports marketing

4* WR Dwayne Stanford of Ohio has scheduled an official for November (thats next month Wheels) 19th... thats USC weekend. He's being sold that he could be the next Tuinai. Chatter is that his stud teammate and Ohio State verbal commit DE Adolphus Washington will be along.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Anyone report on T. Daniels - 6'5", 220 verbal to Oregon. TE/DE. Not much interest in this 2 star so Oregon staff must see something. Rivals reports, "when he is in the right area, he catches everything thrown to him. He's got good speed and very soft hands. Dennis is still on the raw side, but his upside is high." rivals.com

I've seen him listed 6'7 235 of late, so he's still growing. He's also supposed to be a nice basketball player. Very athletic on his highlight tape.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Does anyone know if this soon to be 6'8" athlete will play basketball as well? For what it's worth, I saw a football video of him last year on youtube, and he looked much better in my eyes at DE rather than TE

as far as college athletics goes he claims to only be focusing on football. Ducks took him as a DE who might move inside later on. Apparently they've visited him multiple times in the past year and a half

That's awesome. His frame looks like it could easily add another 30-40 lbs

6'7" 260 is a beast.....I don't care what star level you are

the article I read on rivals had Aliotti (his primary recruiter) saying that too. They had him listed 6'6 240. Also the person who did the interview called him well spoken and thoughtful, which is always a good thing
