Aww yeah! Lets get this going.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

lol still early on.. probably wont have news on people for a few months.. but if anyone hears anything.. we now have a place

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

hows next this years crop looking? i know it wasnt in the top 5 or anything but decent?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

id love it if we could pull a 4/5 star qb at some point

are you talking pull a highly rated QB recruit in this crop? Or in recent memory? Thomas was a 4* both services, and Bennett is a 4* both services as well waiting in the wings. And then there was the whole Randall deal.

are you talking the class we just had in '11? If so.. top class in school history.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Bring it on! If we're top 3 again I think we'll score the best class ever.

yeah the class for incoming freshmen this year, what are some notables?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

and i thought thomas was lightly recruited as a qb, my bad.

The thing is, although the last two classes have been among the most highly thought of ever for the Ducks, they're still deep and talented enough that few of those kids are likely to see very big roles this upcoming season. Things aren't set in stone as to who will actually play and who ends up redshirting from the 2011 class, but we do know who the guys that redshirted from the previous class who will be freshman are. The marquee player from that class is RB Lache Seastrunk who is just a little bit bigger and faster then LaMichael. He'll probably be 3rd string as Kenyon Barner is a quality back too. Curtis White will probably be the 3rd string TE & Bryan Bennent the backup QB. Portland WR Keanon Lowe could also be in the mix. On the defensive side, we should see DE Tony Washington get some snaps, and DBs Dior Mathis, Terrance Mitchell & Erick Dargan.

For the 2011 class the marquee players are RB/DB De'Anthony Thomas, WR/TE/LB Colt Lyerla, WR Devon Blackmon, and TE/LB Christian French. But again, any of these guys could sit out and be redshirted. I suspect that a couple of the LBs from that class will play though as their depth pretty much demands it. Lead candidates are Anthony Wallace, Rodney Hardrick & Rahim Cassell.

some key JC transfers who probably will play significant roles include OT Ryan Clanton, DT Jared Ebert & WR Rahsaan Vaughn

those are best guesses... I hope that helps

nice! i always wondered why they couldnt field better teams in things other than football, especially basketball, you would think the nike connection would get them a few nice bballers here and there

tooting my horn... honk honk... I'm 1 for 1 so far predicting recruits with Oshay. My guess for the 2nd commit in the 2012 class is Justin Solis

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

I have read he has us as his #1... would def love to have him to add depth :)

there has been a lot of anguish expressed among Duck fans about getting straight from HS Defensive Tackles, but I really don't think that position was a high priority last year because of their quality depth. Even a highly rated guy in the upcoming 2012 class stands a pretty good chance of redshirting his first year as long as their top 5 guys (Hart, Heimuli, Keliikipi, Ebert, Remington) stay healthy. But by 2013 there should be plenty of opportunity to play because of the graduation of Ebert and Remington. If Ricky blows up, I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave a year early as stories of his extremely poor family have come out.

Projecting guesses... Sam Kamp (who will redshirt this season) will probably put on some good weight to be an inside player for them when his Duck career starts. They probably sign 1-2 more DTs this year.

Solis was at practice on Friday which would seem to be the final hurtle to him generating a UO offer...

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

I have read he is an early Stanford lean. You hear the same thing Stomp?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

lol dang I was hoping it to be wrong.

I'd heard he was a Stanford lean for a while. Closer to home, a winning program, and of course a full ride there comes with an excellent/valuable education. It is telling about Oregon's status that he felt it necessary to check out Eugene before he made his final decision.

The praise/credit for Harbaugh overseeing their recent rise as a football program coincides with a relaxing of entry requirements for athletes. Their scholastic entry requirements are still very high respective to most everyone else's, but before they were unattainable for all but a very elite few. For instance, Shittu's 3.8 HS GPA wouldn't have been enough a couple years back. Expect them to be a top national program for the foreseeable future.

given the choice, I'd probably rather the Ducks take a Schutt over a Shittu

it's just crazy how far the program has come in the perception of the recruits in such a short time. I'm reading the various articles on rivals of the cream of the 2012 crop who continually mention Oregon as one of the elite schools in the country along with Florida, Ohio State, Alabama... how getting an offer from the Ducks changes their whole outlook on where they might spend their college years. Top players from all over the country will be visiting Eugene this summer

Oregon has won the Pac 10 two years in a row and went to the national championship game yet only one of the guys (Matthews) was selected in the last NFL draft. What happens when Chip integrates this new level of talent he's been pulling?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

yep that has me the most giddy. We are seeing LMJ and DT and co but I cant wait to see what is done with the likes of Lache, DeAnthony, Lyerla, Heimuli, etc... these are Blue Chips that CK has to work with.. could be a fun fun ride.

the thing I'd like to point out from this commitment is that Evan had offers from Arizona, Boise St, Colorado, Colorado St, Duke, Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA & Utah... which is a pretty impressive list.

Oregon offered this week and he jumped at it
