Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Great pick up, but why in the world would a TE commit to Oregon if they have offers from more pro style offense schools?

Again, great pick up

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Ed Dickson, Donte Rosario, are in the pros, and David Paulson will be a top 3 round pick next year. I dont think TE's and RB's in particular are scared off by the spread.

runs a spread in HS. Junior year had 21 TD passes + 21 running TDs. His recruiting really blew up following the Stanford elite 11 camp a month back. That generated a ton of interest and offers from big time schools... look for him to be a 4 star on both sites by the fall

Rodrigues's quotes from ESPN's Greg Biggin's blog.

"This is really a dream for me," Rodrigues said. "When I first started the process, Oregon was always the school I wanted to get an offer from. We run a spread offense at Whitney and Oregon's style is very similar only a lot faster obviously.

"I think I'll adapt really well to it and hope to compete for playing time as soon as I get there. I enjoy being coached and I really like all the guys at Oregon. It's not just Coach Kelly, I like Coach [Mark] Helfrich and Coach [Scott] Frost a lot too. I got that special feeling on my visit and could tell right away that this is where I belonged."

sounds pretty solid

highlights of one of the top WR targets Nelson Agholor who rivals currently rates as the #9 overall prospect. His quotes indicate he's really high on the Ducks mostly because of talks with Kelly and Frost

I really really REALLY hope that we can get Frost a pay raise and/or a higher position soon. I like the future of him. And the fact that he turned down Nebraska shows he wants to be here. We need to reward people like that! Assistant OC to Helfrich?

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

One of my good friends brother is the coach at Central Catholic. I actually use to play basketball with both of them every week until I moved to Houston. Anywho, my buddy told me that his brother, Steve, was thinking he would sign with the Ducks about a week or two ago.

Great news that it happened

a new DE commit from the wilds of Montana... Cody Carriger.

wow Dion Jordan the 2nd? Thanks for the updates Stomp. Have a great vacation!

here are links to the top 2 highest rated D-Lineman with Duck offers (the #5 & 6 rated prospects overall at any position nationally)... both are thought to be strongly considering Oregon and should make it out for official visits on a game day

6'4 245 pound Darius Hamilton

6'5 311 pound Ellis McCarthy

McCarthy is one big boy

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

interesting. Obviously its just highlights so I cant say I know anything about his school.. but he was under Center for everything in at least the first 2 minutes I watched. And Rivals has him as a Pro Style QB. That and the under Center Chip used in the NC and Spring Game, look like he is adding a new wrinkle to prepare for.

oh wow... I could have swore I saw them as Dual Threat QB's. Do you think they will ad more Pro Sets with the more NFL type talent coming in?

the Ducks usually only run 5-6 plays, but they mix up the sets that they run them from. I'm not that savvy with my football X's & O's, but I don't see why they couldn't mix in some under center stuff too. I'm excited to see how they integrate and move around these big athletic TE's they've been signing.

a couple other tidbits on Lockie. His brother just finished his freshman year at UO. JL camped at Oregon this summer and has been working out with Jeff Maehl the past few months. He was officially offered Wednesday afternoon, talked it over with his parents that night, and accepted in the morning. You've got to like a kid who truly wants to go to your school and I think this is pretty clearly the case here.

Re: 2012 Commits and Recruiting News

Updated original post with current commits, I'll work on the prospects once it gets narrowed down a little more. Alot of these kids just finished their Junior Year so not a ton of info out there.

Rivals recruiting rankings for the 2012 class are out. Texas is #1. Beavs at #22 and Ducks at #27. It's still early though.
yup. Not only will a lot more players be signed by most every school, but individual ratings of players will change. Rivals current ratings were done prior to the summer camps where their staff got to see a lot of these guys in person for the first time... in some cases (like the Duck's commit Carriger) they didn't even have film on them. I'd guess both CC and Rodrigues pick up a star in the next round of evaluations.
