Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Would this organization have the balls to draft C Andre Drummond?

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

My only deal with Davis is that he's so weak. The guy will be in Kevin Durant territory in the bench press, but he doesn't have the sweet jumper that Durant does to get away with it.

My dream pick would be Thomas Robinson.

If Davis is off the table if we don't we deserve a kick in the nuts.

I kinda viewed him as pretty much a Jarred Sullinger clone with a higher ceiling, whats the big difference between them?

Robinson is much more athletic, a better defender and has a desire to be great.

Sullinger is a below rim player. Robinson is above rim.

Sullinger has a good 40-50 pounds on Robinson. Sullinger is much more polished as an offensive player. Of course at the same time, he's much less athletic.

Thats my biggest concern with both Davis/Drummond both of them have such big holes in their game do they have the desire and discipline to improve in those areas.

Davis has a great motor. He's going to be a game changer on defense from day one. He could be KG like on defense. How much his offense progresses is up to him.

unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to watch him but does it look like he works on his game or is he going to be another Marcus Camby?
Bah having a new kid is killing me, can't pay attention to College ball when I do have a chance to sit down and watch the games this year :(

I feel the same way about those guys. Thomas Robinson is a driven dude. He grew up poor in Washington DC and his mom died last year, then his grandparents both died like in the same month. He's now taking care of his 9 year old little sister, while going to school and playing basketball. Bill Self said that Robinson is the type of player that would run through a brickwall for him if he asked. The guy is really a stud, super athletic and wants to win bad.

He's already as good as the Marcus Camby of a few years ago (minus the insane rebounding). He needs to polish his overall offensive game, but it definitely looks like he has a good motor.

Hope that drive to improve all aspects of his game continues then, he may be a better #1 prospect then Oden was and I only think Lebron beats Oden in that respect in the last 10 years.

Davis went on a huge growth spurt in high school (and so did the unibrow, but thats another story) and grew several inches. So he has really good ball handling abilities for his size.

I like TRob as well.

But if we get the top pick, we get Davis, no questions asked. He's a can't-miss prospect. If we have a pick between 3-5, I like Robinson over Lamb, Rivers, or MKG. Then we get onto the lower tier lotto level talent.

The only guys I want to stay away from are Barnes and Drummond. Maybe because they sorta remind me of Marty and GO.

He is VERY like Marcus Camby right now. He's got the same BBIQ. Roams in the paint like Camby and catches people off guard for blocks. I'd probably be disappointed if that's all he amounted to though.

FWIW, Davis leads the NCAA in PER, whatever that means. :)

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

If Robinson is a monster in the tournament and leads Kansas to the Final Four he might got #1 :dunno:

I don't think Anthony Davis is a can't miss #1 like most people do.

He can handle the ball better than Camby could ever imagine at 19.

I'd be wary of Drummond and Barnes as well. I think Barnes will be solid, but I don't think he has any chance of becoming elite. I'm not a big fan of Kidd-Gilchrist either. Robinson, Sullinger, and Davis are who I'd like to target if we get in the top 5.

I don't know, Camby has pretty good handles, even if he thinks they are better than they actually are.

EDIT: Well if you're comparing them by age, then yeah, of course.

I probably shouldn't be invested into any prospects yet before the tournament. It's seriously gonna affect a few players' stocks.

I love Drummond and can't help but thinking of GO when I see him but he I'v always been a big believer in giving the edge to the most talented Big. I'm a little worried about Lamb, mostly worried that we will try and make him into a PG like the Thunder made Westbrook into one and I think that can go horribly wrong.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Here's a little taste of Thomas Robinson:

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I must be crazy but I have this feeling we end up with the #1 pick somehow this year

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Robinson's story is heartbreaking.

[video=youtube;8MJrfDEwwEE]

But his maturity is amazing as a 19 year old.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

ACC tourney game coming up on ESPN and ESPN 3. NC vs NC state.

anthony davis is legit, but not the greatest year for a #1, no clear cut greg oden in this draft

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Lorenzo Brown > Harrison Barnes.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

FWIW, both Robinson and Sullinger measured 6'10" (w/shoes) at the Amare camp last summer.

Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Beal might be climbing into the top 5 after dominating MKG like this. Chad was on hand to watch this in person.

I got a feeling Chad really wants to trade everyone save LMA to get into the top 5.
